Small trick to get more items from Belial

Hey so since i farm act2 a lot i found out this trick, after you defeat Belial there is a 4-5 sec gap where you can put your MF gear on, and it counts! I belive it works on Diablo too but im not that far. Until now i was switching at 200k hp and i was getting 1 shotted. Enjoy! I got 4 rares with 280%MF (My pet is full MF gear too)

Magic Find does not mean you get more items, you just get items of higher quality (not ilevel quality but item quality, ie magic instead of common, or rare instead of magic, etc).

It's a nice trick though, good to know!

I think you didn't address it to me because i specifically said 4 rares.

It alters chances during rolls. Game checks if you get yellow item, if you get - it rolls for yellow item again. If it fails to roll for yellow - it rolls for blue, and rolls till first fail again. It is slightly more complicated than what I wrote, but you get the picture. So with high MF, there is bigger possibility to get more than usual amount of loot as well. But it is only viable on something which can drop more than 1 item. In example, containers are limited to 1 item drop (weapon racks, barrels, etc.) - roll will be performed only once (well - it was like that pre1.0.3, when MF was helping on containers).

I know how it works, it however does not mean you get more loot. That was what the OP said. You get higher quality loot. So if the OP gets 4 rares with MF gear and nothing else, then without MF gear that could've been 3 magic and 1 rare. Still same amount of loot. At least that is how it worked in Diablo 2.

I think he got a human pet. If you want max MF you go for a Templar, otherwise the Enchantress is a nice pet.
If you have yet to unlock one of the pets this info here isn't of interest to you anyway.

    Fixed:
"Small trick to get more [good] items from Belial"

"Hey so since i farm act2 a lot i found out this trick, after you defeat Belial there is a 4-5 sec gap where you can put your MF gear on, and it counts! The only "problem" was in the title, where the implied "good" or "better" adjective was missing. The main post itself was pretty self explanatory and it is obvious he didn't mean he got "more items" but instead meant "more good items."

A lot of mechanics from D2 are changed in D3. Sure, we don't have true algorithm in front of us for D3, but testing did show that multi-rolls are present (which perhaps have cap on amount of rolls and DR).

Actually GC confirmed that the MF algorithm is the same in D3 as it was in D2.

If to understand by algorithm as putting loot into TCs, then yeah. Overly vague though. And MF rules were constantly being altered in various ways. And we didn't even have D2's MF algorithm layed out perfectly, only what was complied from words of developers and MPQ tables.

I was refreshing my memories by looking on D2's MF system just now, so if by basis in D3 is all same, basically picks (rolls) are just pure RNG, and D3 just have picks' ranges on more TCs (saw some white mobs very rarely dropping more than they should)? Well, this is a bit sad (I was also slightly confused after playing DS2BW these days also, where MF directly increases chances of getting items, instead of bumping up their color, with MF ending up somewhat more rewarding in the end).
