What will happen in 6 months...

What will happen in 6 months when most serious players are nearing 100 Paragon level and everyone is breezing through 30-40 minute act 3 clears with amazing gear and 300MF farming the best items. Gold will devalue and amazing gear will have no choice but to drop in value, the RMAH will die because gold is so readily available and people don't feel the need to buy power with real money anymore.

Anyone else think this paragon level stuff is a quick fix to a long term problem which will make everything worse in the long run?

To me paragon levels is there to give players who are obsessed with maxing out their characters something to do.

They'll probably nerf item drop rates once enough players reach level 100.
But, I'd be more worried about the bots,. still not really enough being done about those.

The RMAH is already dead. 1million gold is around $1.

Right now (imo) the RMAH is in limbo because of three things:

    1. Some people just don't like the idea of RMAH and won't use it.

    2. Some people have used it to buy items than Blizzard nerfed said items stats or all stats (AS nerf.) Thus the real money is now wasted on a shit item. They no no longer want to spend real money on an item again.

    3. People who may spend real money but heard about what happened in reason 2 and don't want that to happen to them.

So in 6months the only thing that will be selling on the RMAH will be gold. And items will still have the same value then as they do now. Just because everybody can steamroll it doesn't mean that magically the ilvl63 weapons will stop having 200dps on them.

EDIT: This post in my head had nothing to do with religion, but with the scientific tool of the Mayan civilization; their calendar, but since I got infracted for it for mocking a religion, I thought I'd edit (not delete) it to reflect this. Again, this post had absolutely nothing to do with religion , but was a light-hearted quip in an attempt to try and lighten the mood on this forums. As such, it was off-topic, for sure. Nothing to do with religion, though.

It will put Diablo 3 in the same situation that Diablo 2 was in. Once you've really gotten everything out of it, there's nothing stopping the great items from dropping in price due to availability. And there's nothing wrong with that. I bet the more casual players only welcome it.

Also, I bet Blizzard will come up with a major patch eventually, which will include a few new things to hunt for. Kinda like the Ubers in Diablo 2.
And wait long enough and the expansion will get released.

Given the inflation on the AH, you'd still have to buy like 20 million gold to be able to buy an upgrade, so I think that roughly evens out.

a 20million gold item is trying to be sold for around $100 on the RMAH currently. Why people would spend an extra $80 is what is hurting the RMAH item value. It will only get worse once more and more items come out. In 6months I would expect 1500dps weapons and set items to be around $10 to $20.

the paragon system is a joke. It only reward botters. No regular player will ever get PG100. This game will die out way before that.

the 100 PG levels still arnt as steep as the 99 levels of Diablo 2, give it about a month(i actually think it will be quicker than this) and we can expect to see the first lvl 100

*sigh* It's okay, I get really mad about silly things that are completely off-topic sometimes, too.

Anyway I can imagine that the auction house will fall. Completely destroyed? Maybe, but I think it'll take longer than 6 months, and assuming Blizzard actually cares about this game (read: assuming) they will try their best to make sure it doesn't happen.

Are you joking? Level 99 in Diablo 2 was something you could achieve in a couple days with cow level power-leveling. Paragon 100 will take weeks if you're playing non-stop. If you're playing casually, probably a year or more (assuming you actually still have the desire to play).

edit: On second thought it has been a very long time since I played D2 and I can't really say that it was just a couple days. But it was far, far, far, FAR quicker than paragon 100 is.

"a couple of days" would mean you played before LoD and Ladder when 99 meant nothing. 1-2 months is more reasonable in the current game.

Why do people think it will be the end of the world? The Mayans called it the golden age, and they serioulsy valued gold, does the end of the world sound golden to you?

    In 6 months ?

MoP will have 11 + million subscriptions and WoW will implement the cross server AH.
Diablo PvP will rock and the 3 regional servers will accumulate millions of transactions on their AH's to support it.

GW2 will merge its first batch of servers. While the rest will struggle for the lucrative free to play market with cash shops and lie about millions of loggings ... Without publishing revenue figures.

And I hope by that time they will announce the beta for Bliizards All Stars (using the excellent D3 on line engine of course).

No. Prices on the gold AH needed to drop ages ago. To be honest, the gold AH shouldn't have even existed in the first place if you ask me.
