I hate the new Dell stands so very much...

Those boxes are empty.
Empty I say!

i actually like the sharp corner look of the 2011 series of monitors, im a little disappointed in the rounded design of the new ones
I agree with this.
The U2212HM monitors are a bit rounded and feel "soft", while the U2711 is a lot more robust and "industrial". Either case, I'm pleased with the increased work area.
As for the stands, I wholeheartedly agree. They went from solid steel, incredibly robust stands that won't move even a millimeter to somewhat average, flimsier solutions. I do like that I can flip the monitors sideways though.
It would rust, Captain Deltrus.

Yup, we could coat it in aluminium.
Like aluminium cases.
Made entirely out of aluminium.

Why not a wood case while we're at it?

Or concrete...
(Anyone keeping an eye in the swe-c user galleries should get the reference.)
Full copper case would be intriguing, especially after a few years worth of tarnish.
red panda red panda red panda!
I say make a super-concrete case that you can seal, that way your po..ahem your uhh pc and work stuff doesn't get destroyed.

So this new patch is fun.
But hey, at least they gave me a pointer during this screen, never happened before!
(EDIT: Oh, and the monitor is dirty because I was cleaning everything else, and that was last, and accumulated every dust particle from all parts of the room, apparantly. :P *degauss*)
