For most people it will not be a big deal. And I agree that humor is a good way to deal with stuff like this. I myself think that no topic should be avoided in comedy, including Muhammed, including 9/11, including the holocaust. However, I don't think an open community like GW2 general chat is the place to do it.

Ironically, you can be banned for stuff you say in guild chat too. The relative privacy of the channel is no safeguard.

EDIT: The real trolls in that thread are people who are responding to him, not the OP. Back in the good old days, if someone said something dumb, people ignored him and that was that. These days, there are 17 pages worth of insults hurled back at the OP for posting some dumb remark.

It's copy pasted from reddit. I'm glad they let us know what we can say or not, but that doesn't mean I approve everything. I would not ban someone for saying "fuck you dumbass". i did enough PvP in mmos to be completly immunized.

The bolded part is whats wrong with today's society imho. Paying money for anything doesn't entitle you to any special treatment. Society is rude and obnoxious in general, and trying to "censor" it in this fashion is ridiculous. The only possible outcome of it is creating a generation of super sensitive whiny babies - something that's already happening. I am sorry, but anyone who gets offended over Adolf Critler needs to get a hard reality check.

Hitler references are in the same category as N word references. They are bad taste and there is no excuse except immaturity or bigotry for their continued usage.
