    [MW] advice for Garalon 10man

So we've been working on killing garalon and in all honesty, havent had any sort of success, this week our priority is gonna be to get past this bad bug and move on with the instance.

That said, Im looking for anything I could improve gear wise as well as find out alittle bit on what monks are doing that has em pushing so much HPS and healing. After talking with our GM this week im not going to be kiting pheromones and can just focus on beat the boss to just try and uplift spam the raid when needed. Thats generally what it looked like players were doing on other attempts that ive seen, I would just like some sort of guidance on doing this and what to look for if possible.

We will be 3 healing to start our pulls on tuesday unless Im showing a huge healing increase with some changes I want to try, in which case we'll 2 heal it like we did in our earlier attempts.

    Current set up is

    Prot Pally
Blood DK (dpsing in tank/dps gear)
    Mistweaver monk
    Fire Mage
    Affliction Warlock
    Elemental Shaman
    Enchance Shaman (heals usually)
    Boomkin
    Resto Druid

Our 10 dps goes to either a Shadow priest who usually heals Disc, or a warrior.

Also be in the blue circles attacking legs when they're up more damage = more healing from auto attacking and jab. I typically just pretend im a rogue on that fight.

If it helps check my log for tonight:

    http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/r...?s=4630&e=5051

Pretty much keeping renewing mist on everybody, thunder focus tea on cooldown (or prior to a crush), and jab->jab->uplift. I was meleeing legs in priority and keeping serpent's zeal up, though I didn't use blackout kick much.

Not really a secret there, monks are seriously OP for that fight.

Only thing I changed to my spec was using Xuen instead of Rushing Jade Lightning. I don't do pheromones because I do too much healing by staying in melee, the other two do their part for that.

Since you have better gear than me, and more spirit, should be able to keep up, although having a shaman for mana tide is kind of useful.

Just 2-heal it. You WILL heal for much more, as the 3d healer won't steal your heals. And don't use Jab here. Really, you should only SPK/ReM/EH for chi on Garalon.

SCK on 10m Garalon is way too low Chi generation.. I do Jab-Jab-Uplift, substituting Jab for EH or ReM whenever they are ready, never go OOM, and go like 90k hps on that fight with shity gear.

Honestly don't bother swapping to legs you will cost yourself more hassle than hps gained really. Jab*2+uplift is def the way to go in 10m. Sck is great in 25m but not competitive in chi gen and you will struggle on mana even more if you do sck spam. Plus, in order for SCK spam to be worthwhile hps in 10m, you'd have to run full haste gems/reforge and you'll run dry oom.

We 2 healed it our first kill with the hpal as one of the 4 kiters. I did 102k hps the pal did 60ish. She had tank + kiter I had everyone else as a kind of silent mutual agrement. I was in Ilvl 482 or so with around 10k unbuffed (flasked+food) spirit. Just make sure you ask your few hybrids to use their raid cooldowns wisely (I had them use em on my demand) and have your raid members be aware to use a big defensive cooldown for crushes whenever theyre not topped or close to.

To be completely honest, while 2 tank + 3 heal is nice to get used to the kiting and helps the learning curve, very few guilds are able to pull it out, Most need at least a DPS soaker instead of a tank, many other do 2 heal. Trick is to try to pull the strength of your raiders. We tried 3 healing with double soakers (aka no actual tank) 3 healing and it went way worse for us than 1tank+1soak+2heal.

Anyway 3 healing would be for 30 pheromones (3 kiters) rotation. As someone said, lots of the healing will fall into overhealing if you run 3 healers. Especially with a MW in the raid - we are broken for that encounter.

You're not using Jab/Jab/Uplift on a boss whose hit box is the size of the room and has constant raid damage throughout the fight. You've got the right idea with lots of Uplifts and RMs, but Soothing Mists is horrid for Chi generation and I see a lot of Surgings in there too, which is quite expensive. Jab isn't just for BoK usage, learn to love it.

My log from this week: http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/r...?s=2907&e=3313

I just jab jab + Uplift & REM on cd, I also like chi torpedo alot on this fight since i'm always with the melee, healing them on the way moving between legs.
Since this is 25m and I'm on the raid 100% of the time I don't exactly know how it compares to 10man tho.

I took a look at this log from you: http://worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-i5...=13889&e=14290

You should never be kiting the pheromones imo since MW monks are just amazing on this fight. So I can somewhat understand if you can't do Jabx2 - Uplift all the time.
TFT on cooldown, REM on cooldown, try to get 4 Chi BEFORE a crush comes so you can Uplift x2 right after one (Heals alot.)

Expel Harm for free chi (And a decent selfheal), your REM should have 100% uptime (As we cast this on cooldown)

Get your haste to 1345 (You're 20 off atm) for the extra tick aswell, the rest of your gear seems fine

I'll check back later if theres any questions.

Resto druid here: omg, 120k hps with your shitty gear (missing enchants, gems, and all that good stuff)... ffs, I'm dropping my resto druid (486ilvl) for that fight and bringing my alt monk healer (465ilvl) and I'm sure I'm going to own... DAMN.

Lol, he is in his DPS gear. Also, there's a reason Monk healers are getting nerfed hard in 5.1

You shouldn't be kiting the pheromones give that to another healer or ranged class the simple fact is your eminence healing is huge on that fight with the dps increase to legs. I would start with that rather than 3 healing if you can handle it.
The all so important Mage discussion...

A few things to help you out OP:

-Don't bother standing with the DPS group, stand in between the front and rear leg on the side of the boss that's closer to the middle of the room. This helps you avoid puddles so you can worry about fistweaving. This also makes sure you can reach both groups with just a side step or two if needed. If you stand there, only worry about taking advantage of the leg buff if it is on your side, otherwise, it's not worth running to the other side.

-On the leg note, burn Xuen while in a circle. His DPS & eminence heals with the leg buff is amazing, especially if a crush is coming.

-Take turns between Zen Meditation and Revival after a crush. This fight is actually one where ZM helps, so use it! You'll absorb most of the crush and it'll just make things go smoother topping people off.

-If your kiters can time switching right, you should have TFT up for every crush.

Does Zen Meditation actually absorb aoe? I thought it was for direct spells only.
Your persistence of vision does not come without great sacrifice. Let go of the tangible mass of your mind, it is only an illusion. There is no escape.. For the soul burns on everlasting encapsulated within infinite time. A thousand year journey at the blink of an eye... Humanity is dust..

ReM on the raid, Jabbing for Chi, EH on CD, Uplift/SCK when raid damage increases. Should be able to pull 70K hps with ease.

  18. #18
If you are pulling 70k on this fight you need to either bring less healers or learn to play. 120k is easily reachable, even without stellar gear. Keep RM up on everyone (TFT when needed), mash Jab and EH, hit Uplift every chance you get. No need to touch SCK, ignore your level 30 talents. Xuen is clutch, pop him twice.

    Can anyone confirm this pls?

As many other said, in 10m, you should :

    1. Have two healers
    2. As a monk, Jab/Jab/Uplift for the whole 7 minutes, with ReM ticking on as many people as possible.

Leave the tank/pheromone healing to the other healer, and you can just heal the whole raid by yourself.
    Its fairly straightforward, really.

    My logs on that :
