10m Heroic ToT: How many healers per fight?

    Hi all,

We have some roster bloat at the moment, causing a lot of drama amongst who sits and who gets in. We are 1/13 now, with good progress on both Horridon and Tortos. I want to see how many healers are used/expected for the tier, so we can plan any rerolls, main swaps, etc now. Tanks are Prot Pal and BrM, so both are pretty self sufficient. Healer core is Disc, Rsham, MW.

Below is my understanding, but please correct me if I am wrong:

JinRohk: 3 heal (probably 2 later on)
    Horridon: 2
    Council: 3
    Tortos: 2
    Megaera: 3
    JiKun: 3
    Durumu: 3
    Primordius: 2? 3?
    Dark Animus: 2? 3?
    Iron Qon: 3
    Twin Consorts: 2?
    Lei Shen: 3
    Ra-Den: ??

    Thanks for any input/clarification.

Moonz did them all with 2 healers, whereas Paragon did all with 3 except for Horridon, Jin'rokh, Council, Ji-Kun and Durumu. I guess it depends on your roster and your DPS more than anything, but we personally will attempt to 3heal all of them.

The easiest way is probably just to take a look at the amount of healers the top guilds used on the encounters (wowprogress grp setup looks quite accurate to me). E.g. paragon used 3 on: council, megaera, primordius, dark animus, iron qon & twin consorts. Worth noting that they used two discs on most of these fights, presumably to meet the dps requirements despite 3 healing. Seems like moonz managed with just two healers on every encounter probably for the same reasons. Most guilds progressing at a slower pace will probably have a bit better gear when they reach these fights, allowing some of them to be 3 healed a bit more comfortably.

We currently use 2 heals for H Jikun (priest flying, pally on the main platform). There seems to be lots of logs with 3 heals though so I think you should be able to do either depending on your dps.

I suggest 3 healing Tortos and Primordius, though it is possible to 2 heal them if your healers are good and your raiders don't take avoidable damadge etc. But if your dps is decent you can 3 heal them and most guilds seem to 3 heal them.

Also judging by Paragons SS they 2 healed Lei Shen, not unexpected really. More dps = less power ups.

    Not sure about Durumu/Dark Animus/Twins.

Also I seriously doubt Moonz 2 healed Magaera. You have to remember wowprogress will show the role that the person is currently updated in on their website, which is not always the same that they were actually playing during the kill.

Two or three healing heavily depends on your lineup. Bringing a fistweaver/disc over a paladin/shaman/druid offers decent or even competetive dps coupled with good hps when needed while different tanks can be like night and day. You can solotank tortos with some of them and having eg a prot paladin on this fight makes it laughable easy due to seal of insight ticking for insane values, keeping the crystal intact most of the time.

Imagine you have three mediocre healer and five excellent dps, this will work. Also bringing six mediocre dps and two excellent healers... Actually we can't give you a proper answer for your team, take our raid for example: we run with one of the best brewmasters out there who's topping damage on most of the fights easily cutting the dps requirements on every dps by 10k. Add that we use a disc priest who's really into smiting decreases the burden on our dps by another 10k each. So instead of 130k dps our dps only need to bring 110k to beat enrage timers, which is a huge dfference when you bring recently main swapped chars, alts etc.

the dps requirement on ji-kun is fairly low, i would recommend 3 healing it. Jinrohk is defo a 3 heal, again the dps requirement is low. we did Horridon with 2 the first week, but 3 in week two, it just depends how strong your team is. i would highly recommend 2 on Tortos as it is very easy to fall behind, and you are in trouble if you do. some guilds do 3 heal it but they mostly have full BiS from T14 and have five very high dps.

Obviously I don't expect anyone to be able to give personal advice on my raid, but just wanted to see what most were doing in terms of 2 vs 3. When we 3 heal, I (prot pal) usually heal as much as our non-disc healers (stupid OP spec), and both myself and our BrM rank competitively on DPS.

Solo tank Tortos HC? o.O Even with proper ShotR timing on the bites, bad rockfall RNG can cause the shield to drop already sometimes...I can't imagine doing bats too.

Thanks for the input so far. We struggled with 3 vs 2 on Horridon, and get to about the same place (~30% final phase) whether we 2 or 3 heal. Gates are easier with 2, but seems to fall apart at the end more than it did with 3.

Trying to look ahead to JiKun, Durumu, Primordius as they will be our next focuses.

We solo tanked Tortos hc with a prot paladin from week 1, going 1 tank/3heals. Requires 1 healer to fully focus on tank healing. And the shield will drop off sometimes, this is where stuns/slows come in and things like NS from resto sham/druid to quickly boost a new shield.

When it comes to Horridon we never even considdered 3 healers, it just isn't needed and the extra dps helps so much on the gates. But as mentioned it depends a lot on your set up, how good your dps is etc.

If you're still struggling with Horridon I'd recommend going Ji-kun->Tortos after. Primordius is quite a step up from those 2, don't have personal experience with Durumu but I imagine it's also quite a step up from what I've seen.

I believe most guilds 3 heal Ji-Kun, we did anyway. But 2 healing is viable as well aslong as you know which nests will need heals and which don't.

Jinrokh is probably easier 2 heal than 3 heal, because if you have really good dps you can kill him before 3rd storm.
