Currently, i have the following network configuration:
Cable Router: provided by my ISP. Model: Cisco EPC3208G (IP: ???)
Switch: just a cheap gigabit switch
NAS: Synology DS213j (IP: 192.168.0.13)
WLAN Router: AVM Fritz!Box 3270 (IP: 192.168.0.12)
Computer: IP: 192.168.0.11
Notebook: IP: 192.168.188.32
Cable router, switch and computer are in one room, while the WLAN router is connected via a longer ethernet cable, and positioned to give a good wlan signal strength in the whole house.
My problem is, that i can not get a connection to the NAS from devices connected to the WLAN router.
From looking at the IP addresses, it's obvious that
a) the cable router has DHCP on
b) The wlan router is spanning it's own sub net with a different ip range (192.168.0.xxx vs. 192.168.188.xxx). The router's own IP in this sub net is 192.168.188.1
c) The wlan router still has DHCP on
While i have a fairly decent knowledge of computers in general, i am not that proficient in networking.
How would i need to configure my WLAN router, so that i also have access to the NAS from computers connected to it (via WLAN)?
- Do i need the DHCP from the wlan router (for devices connected via wlan)?
- If above is true: do need it to be a different IP range?
EDIT:
I have tried the following:
Changing the wlan router's ip from 192.168.188.1 to 168.192.0.100
-> No Internet access anymore from connceted computers
Disabling the wlan router's DHCP:
-> No Internet access, computers have problems connecting to wlan.
I am fairly certain, that i need to set up some pass-though/routing for the NAS's IP address. But i have no idea how to do that.
