World of Warcraft: Reign of Chaos (fan concept)

Let's say... Warcraft III never happened. Let's say, we had another expansion for Warcraft II (The Last Guardian) and Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans released.

In 2001 Blizzard started working on something new... Something awesome. 3 years later, it hits the stores.

Action would take place few years prior to W3, and a lot of things could change.

    Races:

    Alliance of Lordaeron
    - Human
    - Dwarf
    - Gnome
    - High Elf

    The Horde
    - Orc
    - Forest troll
    - Ogre
    - Goblin

    Class system
After hitting level cap (60 level), you can begin an optional questline that grants you a possibility to advance to a heroic level of your class. Questline would be hard, long, it would require a lot of grind through next 2-3 content patches.

    Example
    Warrior, level 60 ALLIANCE

[Quest 1]: Talk to Muradin Bronzebeard
[Quest 2]: Bring 20 bags of orcs' heads (you will have to find a master tailorer in Silvermoon to make you a magic bags that will shrink everything that goes to them; 1 bag would contain 30 heads max) - orc players and NPCs would drop it.
[Quest 2a]: Bring 300x Linen Cloth, 250x Mageweave Cloth and 120x Strange Dust to a tailor[-er?]; then you will be able to buy bags from him/her.
[Quest 3]: After bringing bags for Muradin, you'll have to travel to Stormwind, talk to Varian Wrynn and duel him. He would be reaaally tough, so you would need to bring some "magics" with you, for example potions, elixirs, buffs from other classes, bandages, engi bombs, etc., and of course good gear (by good I mean at least 3-4 epics). The fight is over when Varian has 25% hp, he yells "Not so fast!", then knockouts you. You've lost, but the quest is completed.
[Quest 4]: Varian says about your good combat skills and sends you to King Magni Bronzebeard.
[Quest 5]: Magni gives you a book that you have to give to his brother, Brann. The thing is, Brann could be everywhere. Quel'Thalas, Lordaeron, Arathi, or even Stranglethorn Vale. That would be really hard to find him (but after the first warrior finds him, realm first, he stays in this place forever, but only on that WoW realm he has been found, that means on Burning Legion server I could find him in STV so he would stay here for the rest of WoW, on Outland server some other guy could find him in Brill, etc).
[Quest 6]: Brann is amazed by how much effort it took you to find him, takes the book and wants you to earn his trust...
[Quest 6a]: You have to kill ogre warlord in a 20 player raid (he's the last boss) - the ogre resides near Alterac Mountains with his crew and is pillaging villages and constantly attacking Durnholde Keep. They're slaying orcs and humans, they do not belong neither to Horde nor the Alliance.
[Quest 6b]: You have to help Aedelas Blackmoore maintain the uprising in Durnholde Keep, to make Hillsbrad safe.
[Quest 7]: You have to meet Muradin on a top of the highest mountain in Dun Morogh
[Quest 8]: You have to defeat Muradin in a duel, it would be really hard and it would require you to have full epic items and potions to win the duel
[Quest 9]: You are promoted from a warrior, to hero class Warbringer, where you will have to choose your path: tank (the mountain king spec), dual wield 1h dps (blademaster spec), 2h dps (juggernaut spec). You can talk to Muradin anytime to change your path, but you would have to pay him and then defeat him in duel again.

    Warrior, level 60 Horde

    [Quest 1]: Talk to Grom
[Quest 2]: Bring 20 bags of orcs' heads (you will have to find a master tailorer in Black Morass to make you a magic bags that will shrink everything that goes to them; 1 bag would contain 30 heads max) - human players and NPCs would drop it.
[Quest 2a]: Bring 300x Linen Cloth, 250x Mageweave Cloth and 120x Strange Dust to a tailor[-er?]; then you will be able to buy bags from him/her.
[Quest 3]: After bringing bags for Grom, you'll have to travel to find and talk to Orgrim Doomhammer and duel him. He would be reaaally tough, so you would need to bring some "magics" with you, for example potions, elixirs, buffs from other classes, bandages, engi bombs, etc., and of course good gear (by good I mean at least 3-4 epics). The fight is over when Orgrim has 25% hp, he yells "Not so fast!", then knockouts you. You've lost, but the quest is completed.
[Quest 4]: Orgrim says about your good combat skills and sends you to Gul'dan (as I said, a lot of things would change).
[Quest 5]: Gul'dan gives you a letter that you have to give to Garona. The thing is, Garona could be everywhere. Quel'Thalas, Lordaeron, Arathi, or even Stranglethorn Vale. That would be really hard to find her (but after the first warrior finds her, realm first, she stays in this place forever, but only on that WoW realm she has been found, that means on Burning Legion server I could find her in STV so she would stay here for the rest of WoW, on Outland server some other guy could find her in Brill, etc).
[Quest 6]: Garona is amazed by how much effort it took you to find him, takes the book and wants you to earn her trust...
[Quest 6b]: You have to help Grom Hellscream with an assault on Blackmoore.
[Quest 7]: You have to meet Grom Hellscream in the Ruins of Durnholde Keep.
[Quest 8]: You have to defeat Grom in a duel, it would be really hard and it would require you to have full epic items and potions to win the duel

I don't know, it's not perfect, but I'd really love to play WoW in times before the Scourge (spring of Lordaeron!).

What do you guys think? Would you play WoW that would happen in times of W3:RoC?

Is the idea that the plot of Warcraft 3 is played out over the course of the game, but in an MMO style?

The level of grand changes in WC3 would be awesome to see from that perspective, but they are so sweeping that it probably wouldn't work for an MMO style of game. Cities are destroyed and so forth - again, I'd love to see it, it seems like the logistics of it would be difficult.

    Earliear than wc3 =/= wc2.

and you said another wc2 expansion happened. Some of the characters already died even before the expansion you've mentioned as THEY DIED during the second war as in either wc2 the dark portal or tide of war.
