So.. now my favorite spec is officially THE WORST in PvP

As Patch 5.4 started, due to increase in Battle Fatigue effects my main character, Ret Paladin, became one of the worst PvP specs in the game.

Its bad performance, however, was on par with Shadow Priests, who deal much bigger damage than Rets and have more CC, but whose self defenses were even worse. However, bigger damage and CC (compared to Rets) is a fair trade-off imo - Spriests were still higher represented in both 2vs2 and 3vs2 EU ladders than Rets this patch.

Balance Druids had similar survival issues, though their healing was already much better due to them being a caster hybrid and having more armor than cloth wearing Spriests. Yet, they still were favored targets in Arena. Still, there are 11 Balance Druids, for example, in 2vs2 EU ladder while only 2 Rets above 2200.

Now.. what suddenly happens 2 days ago? Blizzard decides to boost survival for certain specs which really needed it in PvP, so 2 out of 3 specs which badly needed it - Balance Druid and Spriest - got it. Guess what spec which needs survival buffs even more than those two, didn't get a nickel?

Of course, Ret Paladins.

So now we are worse than both Balance and Shadow even. A class, which dies under Warrior in 10 seconds after bubble is down or dispelled, with Deep Wounds only ticking up to 40-50k sometimes. A class, which currently has only ONE playable setup in 3vs3 - hunter / healer, with hunters preferring much easier and forgiving KFC over playing with Rets.

Why we are that hated by Blizzard? Even our more successful Holy counterparts aren't doing perfectly.

We are definitely not Warriors in terms of damage and pressure we should deal. But the irony is, Paladin has always been a defensive PvP spec, which means our defenses should be most solid among all melees since our damage is the most poor of them all, as a trade off. But now we are both worst damage dealers and squishiest melees. How is that logical?

P.S. Just look at EU ladders and see how many Rets are over 2200 in each Arena bracket. Before I post something I do the math and check ladders and all statistics.

Unfortunately there's nothing that can be done except to reroll. I met Mystic (a mutli r1 player) at 2.2k mmr playing with 2 other r1 players, if he swapped to his Warrior instead of his Ret they would probably gain anywhere from 400-500 rating on top of that. It's pretty sad, but ret just isn't strong or viable at the moment.

Best bet is probably learning a handful of classes you enjoy and just swapping between them based on what's performing well. If you only ever play 1 spec you'll have seasons like this where you simply aren't viable.

Snuggli, you're right. I rolled a rogue and have a fair time with it. Though it's very sad to shelve my main whose only transmog gear (including a BM AH only item - guitar weapon, Tabard of the Lightbringer and Glorious armor set) costs around 250k gold in total.

Interestingly enough, SP's have more armor . Druids are like plate. SPs are like tanks, but none of that does jack shit in PvP against the majority of classes and damage types.

Same thing, except dispersion replacing bubble. I grieve with you mate. I need to stop playing hybrids, was ret during cata. Current season really feels like enforced FOTM-play. The balance is so out of the roof you HAVE TO consider rerolls if you wanna enjoy yourself in PvP.

I feel you mate, i stopped doing pvp on my pala this season, i just cant stand it, our dmg is OK really, we do pretty good burst, but our dmg outside that is dogshit, we are easily trained, easily countered, horrible mobility, easy to kite, any healer will laugh in your face Resto droods in perticular.

sorry man, i roll shadow and the extra % on armor is hardly a buff. Granted im not anywhere close to 1700mmr, but if im being trained and rolled as hard as I am post patch, id really hate to see what its like post 1700!

I still consider them okay, not anything special, but after the first half of Cataclysm I can't complain. Although I would like that Sacred Shield talent Rets had back, that was nice.

Either ways, after playing an Ele Shammy in Random BGs, that feels even worse.
