How do you find it? Well think of a random scenario. (for example you find it in some old cave)

This technology allows you to take control of another human being. However in the process it destroys your body. (just makes it usles, not evapurating or anything else). With this technology you overwrite a brain code of another human into yours (in other words you push his soul out and you replace it with yours for religius people).
So you can steal any other persons body. However....there is a problem:
*The portable machine is using a energy source that you cant replicate (yet) and it takes 10 years to recharge.
*The human you steal body from can die next day (virus and other stuff). So you need to be very carefull.
*If someone sees you doing that, they will probaly tell someone else (and there is a chance that you will die or be sent to jail), so you need to be carefull or you need to kill that person fast.
*When you use a machine it takes one day for you to come back to your senses. (coma)

Now the question.
A) Would you use this machine?
B) Would you give it too someone else? (like your country president)
C) Would you change your sex?
D) Would you take control of a rich person or just a normal one?
E) would you ignore it and place it where it belongs?

Anyway...its a way of immortality. Similar like that movie where they move a mind into a clone body.

Is it possible to take over a coma patient who won't ever wake up due to brain problems? If i overwrite it with my own data that is, therefore making the body able to wake up. If that was possible, i'd use it. I want to live as long as i can, and if this machine could help me do it, i wouldn't be ashamed to use it.

It works like on computer. You have 2 files:

Yournamehere80kb in a C and a yournamehere65kb in a D. You cut the yournamehere80kb and place it in D. This file overwrites the 65kb.
So its not a copy of you. Its you totaly. Your mind leaves your old body, overwriting the brainfiles of another person.
There is no copy created at all.

Oh and you dont need to know the instructions. Its enogh to press a button and wait for a line on a side of a machine to fill up so you can use it again.

I'm not usually one to just drag anime into a discussion that isn't about anime.
But this is extremely similar to the power Orochimaru from Naruto uses--was that the inspiration?

The limits would be pretty easy to get around, the real problem is that it only really works as a counter-measure against things like old age, or cancer. Stuff that kills you very slowly. You could transfer into a new body and get hit by a car. Or get hit by a car before you even get a chance to use it.

I'd hold on to it, and honestly, I'm not a very good person, I would probably use it if I got really old, or got a disease that would kill me/cancer/organ failure etc. As for who I'd use it on.. I dunno. Certainly not anyone rich or important, that's just asking for trouble, or to be discovered, etc. And I don't think I'm a horrible enough person to kidnap a child and use it on them, which would be the obvious choice, since then you have the most life ahead of you.

From what you said it sounds like the person you're possessing has their consciousness destroyed--since the body becomes useless after you transfer into another body. So I'd probably target people who are young (20-25), healthy, don't smoke etc, and are bad people... bad in the sense that they criminals, or just generally assholes.

I'm curious what it would look like? You'd have to conceal it and keep it safe in the ten years between transfers.. is it small?

Well the persons mind simply disapears. The information atoms leave the body. So the person who gets posessed, doesnt fell any pain at all. It simply gets turned into atoms. (ps i never watched naruto...dont kill me)

The brain must be undamaged. If a person who you are stealing body is r*****ed in a head, then the damage will affect you too.
Also if you used it on a dead person, you would die too, because the thing that holds the information would declay very fast.

plus you'd be inhabiting the body of someones son or daughter, and you still walking around in there body would be pretty damaging for them. You'd have to go into hiding, or get plastic surgery. Either way, its still killing someone and stealing there life from them.
