Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling can also solo Ashlei's entire team.

For Draenor trainers I'd recommend Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling, Anubisath Idol, Chrominius, and Nether Faerie Dragon the most. Those can cover 4 of the 6 trainers with room for a low level carry.

Ground out a couple pets to 25 by battling the pets just outside my garrison in FFR (the bug ravager looking ones) IIRC it's a moth, ravager, or rat only right there

Guys, what are your recommendations for someone who has no max level pets in leveling up to 25?

buy three good ones on the AH, go to Stormwind (if you're alliance), and just start battling the trainers. They start at low levels and progress with you.

Do you repeat grind the same trainers or go out into the overworld to level your first 3?

@Fumu - I only do the tamer dailies if I feel like it. But after I got at least 3 to level 25 I started chain farming the striders in the Vale near Mistfall Village to power level other pets up.

@AlarStormbringer - as stated buy a couple good ones BUT they can't be any higher than the highest level pet(s) you currently have meaning if you don't have a level 20 then don't buy a level 20 pet and expect to learn/open it right away. Two good cornerstone pets are Pandaren Water Spirit and Chrominius and I HIGHLY recommend you get an Anubisath Idol as they are stellar for most if not all fights. Don't be discouraged if a trainer wipes the floor with you either - that still is happening to me. Read ahead as far as what pets work and level those up before tackling the trainers. And finally be a hawk on the AH for specific pets that are stated to be ideal for future fights - I got lucky and got a Chrominius for under 1000 and since buying it haven't seen it for less than 1500 or so.

Just to add to what a few others already said since I didn't see anyone mention it - the pet can also get experience if it is that last pet alive when you win the battle. That's how I 2-pet at least a couple of the MoP trainers with the Darkmoon Zep as one of the two, because of the Explode ability. It can be an effective way to 2-pet a battle because the leveling pet never has to be swapped in at all so it doesn't risk getting hit (assuming the pets you face have no AoE abilities).

I get most of my pet XP from Ashlei (soloed with a clockwork gnome) and whenever a favorable encounter is up at the battle area in the garrison. Haven't bothered with consumables yet, apart from the hat. I take level 1 pets to the trainers in Elwynn Forest, Westfall and Deadwind Pass. That combo gives them a nice amount of starting health.

Currently leveling some frequently mentioned pets to level 25. Cogblade Raptor, Mechanical Tranquil Yeti, Bigglesworth, Lil Bling, Nether Faerie Dragon etc.

Also really need to start looking for an Unborn Val'kyr soon. It along with Chrominius and Pandaren Water Spirit are just about the default set-up for single encounters.

Yeah, just as I started pet battling seriously I wanted an Unborn Val'kyr. Couldn't find one for the best part of a days play time flying all over Northrend. Just as I was off to bed after watching a film, I decided to have a quick look (this is about 2am before WoD came out), and there it was just outside of Dalaran as I was flying away. Jumped off my mount and used my cloud just at the right time and nabbed her!

She was a poor quality pet, but after the battle was over I won an Undead Upgrade Stone, which was like... fate or something.
Anyways, the upgrade stones are really easy to get now. You can get one a day by doing your daily garrison battle and 2 trainer battles for the charms.

I have a pattern I follow with the Draenor trainers every day and can get a pet from 1 to 25 from finishing all 6 trainers with just the safari hat.

    I start with:
Ashlei (Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling, second pet (doesn't get used), carry)
Next go to Vesharr (Chrominius, Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling, carry)
Next go to Taralune (Chrominius, Nether Faerie Dragon, carry)
Next go to Tarr the Terrible (Unborn Val'kyr, Silkbead Snail, carry)
Next go to Cymre Brightblade (Anubisath Idol, Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling, carry)
Finish with Gargra (Cogblade Raptor, Darkmoon Zeppelin, carry)

They usually get from 1 to 12 from Ashlei, to 16 from Vesharr, to 20 from Tarr, to 23 from Cymre, and finish at 25 from Gargra. There are some cases with the later trainers where RNG makes it so the carry pet has to do some damage to finish the fight or take a hit, but because of the order I do them in they're generally high enough in level at that point for it to not matter much.

If you don't have an Unborn Val'kyr what would you suggest in its place? I've looked a little but I'm not the of the camping mindset.

People mostly use the Val'kyr for Unholy Ascension.

Ghostly Skull has that skill as well and is much easier to get.

Ah lol, you guys should mention that to get the Hat you must kill a crap tonne of trainers first, especially to people that has less then 3 or 4 lvl25 pets, since it is highly unlikely that we cleared that list. And all the treats for xp bonus you need to buy in your garrison..... I will definately make time to go and down all the tamers for the safari hat. And I mis spoke saying that the pet needed to attack, I am sorry and thanks for the corrections =P. Will take a look at all the suggestions in this thread. I particularly like the garrison daily one that Vanthem spoke about (which one is it?)....since I am lazy and it sounds like the fastest way without running through the whole Dreanor or flying in pandaland all by myself(soo lonely).

    @GoKs:
A few weeks ago when I decided I wanted to open my menageries and started reading up on pet battling, I only had about five or so pets at 25. Lucky for me that back when I decided I was interested in capturing lots of pets but not battling, I made sure I leveled an emerald proto-drake, anubisath idol, and terrible turnip. Those three can handle pretty much all of the tamers until Northrend.

Was pretty easy to just start at the first tamer daily and move around the entire map until I had the pets that could handle the other tamers. Now 2-3 weeks later, I've got 84 level 25s (as opposed to that 5 I started with) and three menagerie's open. I'd say it's definitely worth doing the Draenor pet tamer dailies...they take about half an hour to fly around and do and between the charms you get for those and from your menagerie, upgrade and leveling stones are really easy to get to level your other pets with without ever needing to battle them to level them.

One trip through Draenor tamer dailies nets a 1-25 pet, and if you feel like doing Pandaria tamer dailies afterwards, that can be another 1-25 pet by the time you're done.

What are the benefits of having multiple menageries? Aren't all pet battle dailies limited to once per account per day?

The trainer dailies are but the menageries you get the daily from every menagerie you have. So you can get the bag from beating the menagerie daily boss on multiple characters each day, which increases your chances of getting one of the menagerie-specific pets that you can keep or sell, or getting upgrade stones, leveling stones, and more charms.

yea I have about 430 Unique pets just over 500 total, but not many lvl 25s at all, I also only capture Rare quality pets or if it is a rare pet (Minfernal, Unborn Vylkir etc) I take what I get and will use stones to change it later on, so wasnt really focussing on leveling my pets, basically had 2 lvl 25 pets and a low level just for catching the pet I was after. Used low level pet to dmg the pet and switched to lvl 25 to tank while I capture it. I think I only got to the northerend trainers, but never actually tried to defeat them since I only had like 2 level 25's and that time the chance to miss was absolutely stupid, but guess I could take some time and do it again since we dont miss that often anymore, and I have atleast 6 lvl25's (Son of anumis, lil teragosa, alterac brew pup, lucky quilen, lil badwolf and a gold fish) but I am trying to level my Anubisath Idol now, and will look into leveling chrominus and a sprite darter for some good boost pets.

Nice, guess I'll start building it on my other characters as well. 8 extra charms per character per day are more than welcome. I'm also still a long way from getting a level 3 menagerie. Haven't been able to farm a menagerie fight with a leveling pet yet. Either a bad fight, or pets aren't suitable enough.

    Grab two Zandalari Anklerenders.
Go to Valley of the Four Winds
Put the pet you're leveling in front.
    Fight the critters.
    Swap to an Anklerender.
    Repeat for infinity.
