    DoTs pulling agro

So the title is pretty straight forward. I am in the process of leveling a Spriest and am curious about DoT agro. At first I thought it was just bad tanks, but now I am thinking that it may be a leveling balance issue. In dungeons I will wait for tank to pull adds, give it a few seconds, than I throw pain on the target and almost instantly pull aggro making the take have to taunt them back. This has happened repeatedly in almost every single dungeon I have done, currently level 60.

Is this just a leveling problem, tanks aren't tuned enough. Or am I just consistently getting unskilled tanks?

It's you being unskilled, I recently leveled a priest with tanks from hell and beyond. Manage your threat correctly with shadowform and fade and it'll be fine.

One dot on a target should not pull aggro though, I thought it was me, but it is ridiculous. I can't cast anything without pulling.

probably just a levelling thing, let us know how it is in an hour or so when you've levelled

Bad tanks. (I levelled 4 tanks in the recent weeks & losing aggro like this doesn't happen)

    "Manage your threat" lol

If tanks are having aggro problems with dots, it's because they're awful. Period. By "managing" your threat in this situation, you're basically not doing any damage and hitting fade every 30 seconds. Threat management is not even a thing with competent tanks.

Really.... really!!... just no. how in gods name would you manage your threat with shadow form. you sir sound like you have no clue.

one dot on a tank and pulling aggro is not you its tanks. they either don't have their tank spec active when tanking or are doing something else stupid.
dont worry about it its most likely a leveling thing anyway.

Threat is not an issue in this game anymore. If you are getting aggro, someone else is doing something wrong.

Sounds to me like a non specced tank. Or someone forgot their aggro stance or ability. Plenty of levelling tanking classes will just tank without spec or gear so I wouldn't stress. If you ever pull aggro look at the thanks gear, spec and buffs to see what's wrong

    Marty, we're back in WotLK!

Seriously though, everyone who EVER blames ANYONE except tanks for aggro problems ever since Cata launched, needs to uninstall WoW.

Terrible tanks. Tanking is incredibly easy nowadays, so if you're pulling aggro off of them, they're doing something horribly wrong.

....unless you're using DoTs as they pull. Which, your problem for attacking the mob too early. Don't attack until the mobs are in melee range of the tank.
