PC Case, Mobo and CPU Cooler potential mis-match

Hey so in a surge of excitement I finally pulled together my pc build ordered the build. THEN my friend pointed out some compatibility notes that popped up that i'd missed.

    Firstly the parts I have:

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo 43.1 CFM CPU Cooler
Case: Zalman Z9 ATX Mid Tower Case
    Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 ATX LGA1150

Now apparently my case doesn't have USB 3.0 panels at the front (didn't think to check!) but I presume it has 2.0? Will I be able to connect and just have the older spec USB ports for the front panel? I just want to know if it'll work or i'll just be short some USB's!

And secondly if anyone has experience - do you think the case would have any issues with my cooler - size wise? The case I picked doesn't have a huge mass of info on pcparts so it could be a mistake but i'd IMAGINE it'd be fine the case is actually a bit bigger than the fractal 2500 model I was planning on getting before!

Thanks and hopefully I haven't made a massive mistake on rushing into the case without a bit more thorough research!

edit: So I might need an adapter for the mobo's 3.0's to connect to the front 2.0 panel on the case? (I think that's the case. Different pins right?)

The Hyper TX3 is a smaller than usual tower cooler. It should be fine in that case; what will it be cooling? If you haven't ordered you may want to bump up to the 212 EVO; the TX3 has push-pin mounts which are less robust than the rear plate of most other tower coolers.

Your case has clearance for 165mm tall tower sinks (source), so the 212 series will work as they are 159-160mm tall.

The motherboard has one USB 3 header and two USB 2 headers in addition to the rear soldered ports. You'll just have to use the USB 2 headers to connect the front panel, no issues there. If you have enough additional ports to use all three headers, adapters are cheap.

Silly me already ordered. I think i've wanted a pc that could run a game at a decent quality since i was about 15 so 8 years on and this is the first so I got caught up in the excitement haha.

I have an i5 4690k I know uncommon choice ;D It's just a dream of a cpu. I saw other people used the two in combination as well so I was confident at the least it could satisfy the needs of the cpu

So too late for a better model but then again my budget was very much nearing the cap so I couldn't have spent MUCH more! Literally waiting on a payday to get my monitor

Thanks alot very prompt reply and I have to ask though - where did you read about the heat sink clearance? I even followed the specification on the source site that followed after your link and could find just about anything but that!

    Cheers

Experience (I have read many 212 EVO boxes and build Mini-ITX PCs so clearance is a BIG deal). Newegg's page for the heat sink lists height of the unit, and about halfway down the page I linked is:

"There’s enough room for a 290mm graphics card, which covers all but the most powerful models, and we managed fit a 165mm CPU cooler, although we wouldn't advise going much taller than that. "

The 4690K is pretty beast for overclocking, I have a couple TX3s but they're on older lower-spec chips so I wonder how it'll perform on an i5; you should post some temperatures and clocks once you get it running!
    Super casual.

Ah! Well I will definitely be putting some of these details to note including the link great and fantastic cross referencing! see it all clear as daylight again

I wasn't INTENDING on OC'ing because I don't have the major needs - however I don't think running some tests for educational purposes would be so bad.

One last cheeky request but I'll of course scour the stickied threads when it comes to building the rig (will be my first time from scratch) - but if you have any other tips or resources to recommend because the inner organisation will also affect the overall temperatures then it'll make the tests a bit more reliable

    Thanks again!

Anything from Linus or Jay on youtube in their build guides is great. https://www.youtube.com/user/LinusTechTips or https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkW...OCarmUKmppD7GQ
