I agree with the OP.
It looks more like a Warrior weapon than something a Death Knight would wield. The whole... black and red palette? I don't know, it just seems more primitive, #savage almost, like something out of Draenor. Death Knight equipment should have that gothic, necrotic look to it; plenty of skulls, but with a certain refined yet cryptic look. Cold and sharp.
"Frostmourne has the ability to drain life from its victims — and to drain the soul of anyone whom it connects to. The Lich King is capable of seeing through the eyes and hearing through the ears of anyone who wields Frostmourne; this ability cannot be stopped by any mortal means. The Lich King can communicate with the wielder at will telepathically, on any plane and at any distance. The Lich King uses this ability to try and corrupt the wielder over time. This has several effects. An individual who wields Frostmourne will not part with it willingly. Over time the person will go from good to neutral and finally to evil. A non-undead evil wielder will then become undead. Finally the sword is able to suck the being's soul into the sword. Frostmourne then retains the memories and skills of its victim."
Do not complain.
Our weapon is awesome.
Frost DKs are screwed.

what else you need? and we still not saw 1 last skin. And black and red palette? Meet our mentor Lord Thorval and say something about warrior again
Axe is a brutal weapon to chop flesh and bones! Make enemy bleed to death! Let other weave their swordplay, our goal is to let River of blood wash away anything on our path! *pathos off*
I quite like the cosmetic appeal of Maw of the Damned but I understand everyone has their own views on it. I really like the skins with the red runes etched on the blade. In terms of axe vs sword, I'm quite happy with the axe and think it's consistent with DKs while still allowing differentiation between the other DK artifact weapons. Deathbringer Saurfang in ICC (who used a lot of blood themed abilities) did use a big 2H axe and I don't think that ruined any DK fantasy. I'm pretty excited to see if they develop more skins for it and in particular what the gameplay attached with it will like (any special quests etc).
Ps, first mmoc post after many years as a reader!
