Frame Rate Issues, Could Use Help!

    Hello everyone.

First off, I LOVE the basis of Guild Wars 2 and would LOVE to start playing again. However, the thing holding me back is on the technical sides, i.e frame rate issues. Currently running AMD FX 6100 6 core CPU, overclocked to 4.0 Ghz, with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 as my GPU. I also have 8 gigs of RAM.

No matter what settings I put it at, it still lags when I can be playing other games at max settings. Now, I have heard that Guild Wars 2 is harsh on AMD CPU's, so if this is the case, is there anything other than buying a brand new CPU to make the game actually enjoyable to play?

    Thanks.

There are 3 options that have the most impact on FPS when you're near lots of players (I assume this is the case, such as in WvW etc), and they are Character Limit, Character Quality, and Shadows. Turn these down until you get acceptable framerate.

Even if you turn them all to their lowest setting you'll probably not get very good FPS though, your CPU isn't the best AMD CPU and AMD in general is bad for GW2.

Hate to break it to you but even my i5 2500k (paired with a 390) and i7 2600 (paired with a 780ti) are running this game like shit recently. I shouldn't have to turn those options down but I had to a couple weeks ago when I started the game back up to do some more map and puzzle exploration.

I think they messed something up with a recent update in the last month or two. I was getting 50-60+ ultra on both machines the last time I played it in February.

    A) Gw2 hates ATI due to how multithreading works for the game, gw2 was based around the gw1 engine (Dx9), AMD will be badly optimized.
    B) You could try deleting local.dat from your gw2 folder <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4GM7mqGKUQ>
Cod has a new campaign, new weapons, new multiplayer levels every year. Zelda has been recycling the same weapons, villains, and dungeons since the 80's. Zelda recycles enough to make cod blush. The same weapons, villains, dungeons, and princess in every single Zelda for the most part. It's almost as cheesy as bowser vs Mario round 35

I was cleaning my PC out and I guess there must have been some dust in the PCI-E slot as after I reinstalled my GPU again, I'm now back at 60+ fps full settings. Weird....

I'm also thinking on upgrading my pc but still idk what to change yet due to my money constraints, i'm thinking on possibly changing processor because my vga despite being a bit old still has got some relevancy on my pc (gtx650 ti, not ideal). I'm prolly gonna change my AMD to an i5 with around 3.4ghz.

I don't know about GW2 hating AMD CPUs, I'm watching resource monitor while doing stuff in GW2 and it stays pretty even between 8 CPUs.

I generally run on highest setting, but I've also noticed slowdown into the teens of FPS when panning around. I went through and lowered settings one at a time and then back up to see what might make a big difference. The one that did make a pretty big difference was turning LOD Distance from Ultra to high and I didn't see any difference.
