    Viability of druid dps.

    Ello!

Currently leveling a druid alt for my guild since we have so many healers that my previous main is growing obsolete. What is the current situation with druid dps, both boomkin and feral? Which one is more viable/brought to a heroic/mythic -level raid more often? Also which one pulls better numbers in average (feral is single target i gather whereas oomkin does better numbers in a multi target fight)? Aka in the long run considering the current raiding environment, which one will provide more dps (&utility)? Thanks for help beforehand!

They're both fine, just play whichever you enjoy more / peform better on.

I'd recommend waiting for the rest of the 7.1.5 patch notes.

I personally can't speak on feral because I don't personally play that spec*
Boomkin dps is subpar on multi target and okay on single target at low ilvl. Once you reach higher ilvl boomkins become much more competitive and once you have a bis legendary you become viable in comparison to other classes in high end raiding. I'd say boomkins supply more dps and raid utility currently.

Right now feral is one of the top 2-3 specs in the game for single target, and a bit below average for multi-target. It's arguably the best melee spec in the game currently (i.e. in ToV), as the only spec that can compete on single target damage (assassination rogues) are even worse on AoE. The main downside is that feral is garbage against things that die quickly.
Diplomacy is just war by other means.

I mean honestly boomkin is in just as bad of shape as ele shaman right now, but they don't complain as much; that said though, as far as M+ pugs go, I'd still bring one because solar beam saves pugs, but I would like them to see a buff or 2

and well, feral is great as long as you're not bringing it to content where mobs die instantly, but a swipe buff would be cool

overall though, I think they're both viable unless you want to push really high end content really fast where boomkin might not be so great

Feral parses very high in ToV, but they're 11th on heroic EN at 75th percentile, getting slightly worse at 90th/95th, so it's not quite that clear.
They're also significantly below average on AoE, though competitive on cleave.

Boomkin is decent ST but worse than feral, somewhat better at AoE when things live long, but suffers from a significant ramp-up time and even then, sustained AoE is middle of the pack.

Anyway, all of this is moot until we know what 7.1.5 will actually change.
