Mistake Announcing Future Content Long Ways Out?

I can see arguments going both ways. With that said, does announcing future-future patches detract from the excitement of the current or next patch. I know I found myself thinking "Wow, I can't wait," when the the new 7.2 info hit and that was right after NH had dropped. And now I feel like a lot of people are anticipating Argus so much that they are looking right past ToS.

What do you think? Do you like the information as it gets closer or are you all for hearing about content that's 6-9 months away?

People choose what kind of information they get, if you don't want to hear about content that far away, don't listen to it, tab out, don't read etc. It's not hard.

Want to hear about content 6-9 months away? Listen.

    Don't want to? Don't listen.

I believe Blizzard made a statement that raids don't necessarily need to release with major content patches. It is looking like they want to space content out a bit more and not wait until everything is finished and then release it all at once. I actually wouldn't be surprised if 7.2 hit in late March or early april with the Broken Shore, Class Campaign, PVP Brawls and Legion Invasions. After a few weeks, they may release the new dungeon and a few weeks after that, they release ToS.

    No, I think its good.

It means people will be hyped when Argus finally comes and will be eager to get into the raid. You have something to look forward to.

I currently have much fun in NH and I am looking forward to ToS.

I don't mind because I don't get wrapped up in it.

My guild is super causal (we raid one day per week for three hours) so we're not hurting for content. I'm perfectly content to continue along our methodical progression path until the next patch. If that's tomorrow, well, I guess we did really shitty this tier. If it's six months from now that's fine too. I'll deal with Tomb when it drops.

That said, I definitely prefer to hear about non-content changes (class changes, artifact changes, AK changes, talent changes, etc) in advance so I can do whatever I may want to do to prepare for them.

It can. We have a 4 star stud RB in Mark Walton, but we lack depth due to Gus the Bus Edwards transferring and Joe Yearby going pro. We lost McFarland to some shit from Maryland, and THAT guy isn't going to get any PT cuz they also recruited someone better (and are a shit school anyways). Anyways, we already hooked in Lorenzo Lingard who is a 5 star RB for next season AND Noah Cain a 5 Star from the 2019 class... so it's like, we have HOT running backs in the pipe for the season after next and the one after that... so it's like, yeah I'm looking forward to that big time. On the flip side, The U has always put the best of the best in the league at running back, so the stars sure as fuck don't make us, WE make the stars... it's still real nice having a stud on paper coming on campus.

It's a fine line to walk, devs want to keep players engaged and they want to build anticipation for upcoming features. And they want their playerbase to feel like they are being taken care of and accomodated with fresh content. But at the same time, you can end up with a No Mans Sky situation where the developer just runs their mouth constantly about how great their upcoming release is going to be and all the cool stuff in it, but then it just doesn't measure up to the hype.

If you get your panties in a bunch because you saw Blizzard laying out the long term content plan and you're too impatient to deal with it then you're objectively a loser.
