    Re: Tanking help

charge, shield block (while running in), thunderclap, shockwave, shield slam one, cleave/dev/hs/rev anything you want till thunder clap is up again. pretty much thunderclap spam and shockwave as soon as their off cd. use shield slam as normal threat if you mark a target, but if you start to lose one, shield slam that. Tab ftw

    Re: Tanking help

Pretty much what this guy does ^^ but actually, I have taken it a step farther.

All of this depends on what you tank. If you just tank heroics and the occasional 10 man then you have a little more leeway when it comes to glyphs. I actually have 2 prot specs, one for raids and one for heroics. The "heroics spec" is deep wounds and it's glyphed for shockwave sunder and cleave.

That stuff aside, you should still be able to tank large groups without those little things to help you, I just do it to make my life easier. If you don't have those options you can just have a tighter ability rotation/priority and use the living hell out of tab target (even though it sucks sometimes).

You should have a little list like this when fighting groups:

    1. If there is single target dps >> Mark a main kill target (this guy eats your taunts and shield slams)
    2. Use Charge (I see a lot of warriors not charging. If the group is close to another group, taunt/HT pull, THEN charge)
    3. Use Retaliation when you pull a big group
    4. Que cleave when you charge
    5. Thunder Clap and Shockwave every single time it is off of CD
    6. Tab target while cleaving and dev/rev everything
And here is a big tip. When one mob that is a focus kill target hits about <20% taunt it or hit it with Conc blow and don't go back to it. Focus on the remaining mobs. Don't be afraid to burn challenging shout either if things gets wonky.

Your priority list for large groups should be:

    Shockwave
    Thunderclap
Cleave (and this is knowledge based on use - don't continue to spam it if you hit a rage pocket)
    Devastate (if glyphed)
    Shield Slam (main dps target)

Again, before I get corrected, this is what I do and it works 100%, not everyone plays the same. I do not loose mobs to aoe even in a +6 group. It just takes a combination of things to stop it from happening and since my warrior is only for tanking I have more room for extras, like the helpful aoe glyphs. Oh and thermal sapper charges don't hurt either >_>.

    Re: Tanking help

Just a couple of modifications to Ichigosa's post. Don't shield block while running in if you're just going to shockwave right after. That wastes really good mitigation and threat (especially on groups of mobs in heroics).

Charge in, shield slam your main target. Wait until all the mobs are gathered up and thunderclap. Back up a few steps to get them in a line, shockwave.

Now, you should have a pretty full rage bar. Shockwave stuns for 5 seconds, so use those 5 seconds to tab target a few sunders and revenges and another shield slam or two. Hit shield block AFTER they come out of shockwave stun. You are now taking minimal damage (blocking/dodging/parrying everything) for 10 seconds.

Now you're at second 15 of the pull, and one mob, if not two, is dead. Now you have no problem with incoming damage, no problem with rage starvation, and no problem with threat gen.

Follow what Justin said above, and you're golden.

    Re: Tanking help

I had a great deal more success when I macroed together Thunderclap+Cleave and started using PowerAuras. The power auras allowed me to set an icon to appear on the screen around my character when TC is up, ensuring it gets used EVERY time its up, and with each use it que's up cleave which just adds icing to the cake

    #showtooltip Thunder Clap
    /cast Thunder Clap
    /cast Cleave

very simple, very effective. other than that, just restate what they said above

    Charge
    Thunderclap + Cleave
    Shockwave
    Shield Slam (marked target)
    Dev-Rev-HS other targets while stunned.
Shield Block when shockwave wears off
    Repeat
    Phyta-[H] Gorgonash - 85 Tauren Warrior - Beastmode Tanking / Arms Deeps
Suberror-[H] Dragonmaw - 85 Undead Priest - Healing made Easy Holy MS [PvE] / Disc OS [PvP] 3824 resil
