How much do you charge for a port?

Been playing since Vanilla, I remember when I'd charge like a gold for a port. Or sometimes if they just covered the cost of the reagent, I'd port them. Now days, they're just throwing money at me (even when the hearth has been taken down to 30mins from what used to be 1hr). I get 10-30g usually. I never state a price, but when people open trade that seems to be the 'going' price on my server anyway.

If you add it all up, I've made a pretty damn healthy profit just from ports alone.

well, being a warlock/paladin I can´t really charge anything, but I usually tip them 10-15g

Thus, if Searing + Blade is equal to Burning + Legion, as well as to Death + Wing, and Death + Wing is equal to Old + Gods, then Burning + Legion = Old + Gods.

    Simple math.

I dont port people at all, i didnt chose the taxi driver class.
Getting 2-3 pst's as soon as i load into org is great fun.
Although the best ever was when someone asked me to port them to org (they were in TB) whilst i was in dalaran.....

Anyway i guess enough people are sick of it like i am, and thats why people throw money at you so you are more likely to respond.

I don't charge anything. But if some1 decide to tip me i don't refuse.

EDIT: I got once 350g for making a guy port from IF to Darnasus, from Darna to exodar, and from Exodar to Sathrath City. BTW, back than i was playing on low populated server (Burning Steppes).

Re: How much do you charge for a port?

my guild name is <no i wont give you food>

but for ports, if they invite to party with out asking, they dont get one

if they say DAL PLZ, and invite before i say OK or NO, they dont get one

if they ask NICELY and wait for ME to invite them, i charge them 25g
    hahaha. no.

Re: How much do you charge for a port?

I don't port for money. If I'm not super lazy right now I'll port you for free (of course I accept money if given, but I say I don't need any if they ask), but If I don't want to port somebody I simply wont. I don't need 10g. If they were tipping 100g I'd probably do it, 50 would be pushing it.

Re: How much do you charge for a port?

I'm not a low-med pop server so i dont get spammed by ports, but when i do, its normally:

5g if you're in front of me
10g if you are in another city

Sometimes, people bitch at me for charging 10g "for pressing a button", and ask for a port again, so i charge 15g, when they say im a noob i see them spamming trade for a port.

There's a few times where said retard spamming trade did it for 30 minutes without a bite, then whispered me again and it goes like
Him: "fine, ill pay your 15g or whatever"
Me: "Oh, the rate is at 40g atm..."
    "WHY FOR?"
"Supply and Demand, i love it."
    "You're insane...."
"Yeah, when i make the port, read my title"

I dont ignore people, just overcharge them

And there's this ONE case, someone wanted me to go to him to port him to dal, and he was in the middle of fuckin' SILITHUS. Good thing is, he knew it was far, and offered 200g if i went to him. I never teleported to Theramore so fast.

if i get one of those whispers like: PORT DAL PLZ 5G. PORT DAL AND COME TO ME IN UC 3G. i reply back and say: 50g. If they ask me very very nicely i will make them one for 10.

Same thing happens with table btw... if people in heroic say ''MAGE TABEL!'' i simply tell them to go buy their own food

Re: How much do you charge for a port?

I'm not a mage, but I buy portals to all cities but Dalaran (20) for 10g each, and here's how I do it most often:

Hello there, sorry to disturb you, but would you mind making a portal to *city* for me, I'll gladly fee of your choice unless it's an absurb amount.

99% of the time they make me one, if they don't, I find someone else ;D

Re: How much do you charge for a port?

Man, I can't believe anyone pays you douches 25g for a 20silver reg and 10 seconds of your time.

I charge free point free gold if they're nice. I tell them no if they aren't.

Re: How much do you charge for a port?

I charge w/e they tip if they are nice about it. Otherwise I just won't port them at all.

@cactrot: This whole game is 'pushing a button'. This game is all about free trade, and ports follow supply and demand. If ports were really that lucrative, if they were really that game breaking, we would see more mages. But, no one is going to get rich charging 25g a port, and no one is going to become poor paying 25g a port, unless they port 15 times a day, in that case, theyre doing it wrong.
But your eyes are drawn of charcoal they're black they're so cold they're so imperfect because they see a sleeping world where waking isn't worth it

Yes, the whole game is pressing buttons. However it's a time thing. It takes so little time. I understand 5g. Can understand 10g. 25g? Douche-tastic. That applies to both the people charging it and the idiots paying it.

If I'm sitting in lfg my ports get very expensive. Porting means joining the customer's group and I lose my space in the queue. Queue for DPS is often ~12 minutes on my server. I think 20g is a bargain.

Also I get a certain glee when ppl get mad at my price. Means I don't have to port them and they go away. It's win-win.

Get ready for this guys, I'm about to do something you'll probably never see me do again... admit I was wrong.

I haven't played my mage much since 3.3 hit, and you're completely right. 20g is not at all unreasonable. I was wrong about my opinion on prices now that LFG is out. I sure as hell wouldn't give up my spot in line for that much even.

Re: How much do you charge for a port?

People tipped me 5g for ports at level 60, when having 2000g was like having 100k now. Now they expect me to accept 5g? Please. It's the same reason I don't enchant or make tailored shit for less than 100. People tipped me 50g at level 60 for MC enchants, why would I accept anything less now that gold is much easier to come by? You'll pay me something I actually value, or you won't get a port. 5g is not even enough for me to open my spellbook. I wipe my ass with 5g.
