    Re: vs a prot warrior

Cone of cold and frost nova, two snaring moves that cannot be spell reflected, use them..

Ice lance to drop spell reflect...

You just need to be faster on the draw and learn how to beat one, they arent easy, but they arent hard either (also mirror images are amazing too you know)

    Re: vs a prot warrior

Here's some tips from an ex-mage, now prot warrior

    - Make sure to drop his shield reflect with an ice lance.
    - Mirror Images are good. They eat his spell reflect charge. He'll fear them out if he's going offensive so be ready for that.
    - Do not use iceblock when you are in 1 hit range of dying. He can remove it with Shattering Throw and finish you off.
    - Make sure you don't use deep freeze on a shield reflect (yea, there are dumb mages out there )
    - Use Cone of Cold. Never seen mages use it but it's perfect as it can create a nice kiting opportunity and it's not reflectable.

also, abuse range deadzone, warriors have a range deadzone, and a melee - charge deadzone, use it

Prot wars are plenty beatable, just need to play it carefully. One of my guild's gladiators is playing our MT in pvp (our tank likes achievements) so he's doing a prot war 3's team with a prot warrior that has a 5800 gearscore. People probably cut themselves when they see his hp.

theyr just going to ignore him in arena, all he can do is run around doing shitty dmg if he is in tanking gear, as you say with his HP.

a pvp prot warr takes some block value gear till they hit the cap, then start stacking ArP and dps gear, with dps gems, pvp prot warriors generally dont have shitloads of HP because they dont gear/gem for it like in PvE.

This is not exactly true, you have been watching too much of that Swifty crap. Good prot-PvP warriors are running with full ArP+strenght gear, devastate being their main damage. Conclussion blow and Shockwave are there for burst, shield slam is just a nice little bonus every 6 seconds. Wasting alot of good stats for it is... well, wasting alot of good stats :F

on topic: Use Mirror Images, use thrasbuffs to prevent him slamming your shield 24/7, use deadzone instead of going to range as much as possible. When the time comes, you should be dropping him to ~50% or under when he gets caught to deepfreeze in battlestance without trinket. Prot warriors aren't wearing too much resilience. Ice Lance spellreflect unless you have pets; cancelaura fingers of frost, or you will be critting yourself for 4k. If he doesn't have a trinket and he uses his cooldowns (shieldwall, enraged regen etc), poly and reset. He will dominate you very quickly, and you won't be killing him during that time, so you need to reset (unless he is very low, and by low I mean less than 35%. He is regening HP anyways with last-stand enraged regen). Then open with all your cooldowns, enjoy seeing him drop back to 30% during deepfreeze, and just kite kite kite and let your pet's finish it off for you (or icelancespam with fireblasts, and with some random r1 frostbolts to proc FoF). Don't root yourself once with reflected frostbolt or you will lose instantly if he knows what he is doing. Use CoC. Don't use nova and shield-nova at the same time, alot of mages are doing this for some reason.

    Hope this helps.

that wasnt exactly my point, it was just that Prot pvp warriors shouldnt stack stamina like he states his maintank has, in PvP and see it as beneficial in Arena for some reason

you cant exactly predict when your shield is going to break, and when he is near you you arent just gna wait for it to break so you dont have to waste your frost nova.

also its a Force of habbit, whenever a melee is near me i frost nova on my mage, unless the circumstances make him unable to be rooted, HoF/CloS, etc

only moment u want to get to 100 yard is when u gotta evocate. And even then make sure u have your elemental out to freeze him when he tries to get u. Because otherwise he gets back in his charge range :P
