Resto Drood - A lil bit of help?

Hey I have played a boomer for literally years now, I love playing it and will always have a Boomer spec, however it is now PvE as I have decided to go for resto (I want to try this rollin on my face I heard speak of) I have tried a few different players out as boomkin like locks, rogues, and ret pallys but just cant seem to get a high enough rating either by becoming a bit inactive from time to time or we just get frustrated...my friends have all suggested resto..

Now I have PvE healed as resto since right before the WotLK's first patch. I am a pretty good healer as far as PvE goes but thats just clicking healbot and PvP requires more skill. I have been practicing healing in BGs but dont think I am good enough even though I can easily end up top of healing. I have heard GRID is better to use for PvP so can anyone tell me what addon is optimal? Use Gladius as well but mainly to know when trinkets are used and bubble is finished and to target. Any other useful addons?

Im also still sorting out gear and have a mix of relentless, furious gear of salvation etc. Im wondering should I use a mix of boomkin and resto 5 set for more resi or do people not do that anymore?

I have over 1.1k resi or something like that and will end up with more...when I am gemming should I include 5% hit and some spell penetration to be offensive (my spec is currently a 3v3 non-insect swarm spec) also when I am gemming should I focus on stackin SP or include other stats like crit etc?

I know everyone one uses spells differently at different times but if you have any advice there it would be appreciated as well.

I dont expect one person to answer all this as I have asked a lot, but if you would like to offer a specific answer please do.

Thx for taking the time to read this, just wanted to get a few extra opinions other then what I think and what friends of mine have told me.

The problem with healbot is that it requires you to click on the addon's bars, and clicking in PvP is generally a bad idea (unless you're roflholy kek)

Grid is better I guess. You could always just drag your team's profile from the standard raid frames or use mouseover heals.

You should probably go for the fourset resto pieces now. The additional sp is great (resto druids benefit a lot from spell power). Gearing wise, I've seen most druids go for haste as the primary secondary stat after SP now after the GotEM change, and yes you definitely should be at hit cap (relent ring, cloak, neck will put you there unless you use some PvE pieces). I'd recommend at least 75 spell pen; if you get the offhand and the cloak enchant or just the enchant and 3-4 mysterious' you'll be fine.

In 3s roll Rejuv on your entire team, use the others as the need arises. Remember to LB if the other team's spam dispelling. Make sure to coordinate with your team when and who to Cyclone, and remember that you're vulnerable to Poly/Repent/Interrupts/Hard switches when you do. Check out AJ for macros.

Cheers for the input and its been taken on board...but I might well get this out in the open. My largest problem is that I never really got used to using my left hand for abilities. The shame of being a partial keyboard turner is something I must bare....I used a combo of the qweasd keys and my mouse to move and adjust camera angles. If I am to use my mouse only to move, do I move with the mouse then click grid or move hover over and hit a button? I have my middle mouse button as auto run as well...basically whats the best way to move my char and use abilities...cuz now for DPS I use the number pad mainly and healbot for healing...

Anyone wants to flame go ahead...but I use my mouse to turn a lot like if I need to turn right around....I dont JUST use my keys!

wait, so your telling him that healbot is bad because of clicking (which I sorta agree with), however you then tell him to get grid and mouse over macro's which is essentially the same thing, except you have to click a key bind first, where as healbot is just clicking the health bar. If anything in that situation where you didn't want to have to click to heal you would want a key bind with the different heals set up for each player. It all comes down to personal preference though.

Don't know much about druid healing, but the best advice I can give you is play tons of matches. The more you play, the more comfortable you become with healing, and the more you play with the same partner the better you guys will be able to communicate during matches cause you'll know eachothers play style in and out.

I'm not telling him anything. I'm giving suggestions. Bolding your own last sentence for your personal understanding.

Re: Resto Drood - A lil bit of help?

Thx guys, yea I deffo agree it helps to stick with one partner and do a load of matches...prolly why tryin to do it boomkin was so hard cuz I switched a lot.

Im used to healbot...been using it a for more than a year...Iwas told to switch to grid because there is less lag between the addon and the heals....are you sayin I should defo learn to use keybinded heals? And move with my mouse? How? When I click my two mouse buttons the same time it effect my zoom for some reason but if I click one after the other I walk....any advance on making the switch to only mouse movement?

Re: Resto Drood - A lil bit of help?

My personal opinion (As i used to be a clicker myself) Is use one of those keybind guides, set every spell up as you see fit... then practice. ALOT!

That being said, Resto + Aff lock you can get to 2200 with clicking (Yes i did it and im kinda poor on my druid)

Gem for SP you dont need more than 1k resil at this moment in time, Aim for 24k hp unbuffed (Tho with some relentless its rather easy).

I just use blizz normal UI and bind the targets to more accessable keys (Rather than F1, F2 etc etc)

Grid can be useful to see what debuffs/Curses etc are going around but not necessary.

As far as stats: Get around 100 hit (ish) Spell Pen is also useful (Cloak enchant + a few Spell Power/Pen gems get you to the mark rather fast.

I am very sure some elitest prick will come along and state that clicking is terrible and using the 'S' key is retarded etc etc But it is very possible to play at 2200+ via clicking with practice and a competant partner.
