    Frost Tank DW Question

I've been surfing the forums for a few days now but I can't seem to find a straight answer to my question so I'm posting it here.

Disclaimer: I am new to DKs and am still learning.

I understand that DW Frost Tanks should be using the slowest possible weapons. However, after looking over a lot of the available gear, most if not all of the 1h tanking weapons are 1.50 or 1.60 speed. Am I missing something here?

    Don't use tanking weapons.

Use dps weapons. Don't worry about the lack of defense rating you'll make up the "loss" in avoidance by having a larger chance to dodge and increased armor, as well as better threat through additional crit rating.

They made rune of the nerubian carapace for a reason. Use two slow DPS weapons or, if you can afford the threat loss, slow DPS mainhand, tank offhand.

Seen a 2 Hand Tanking weapon yet? When you find one let me know.

Going with that LOGIC, I would assume that a DW DK would not use tanking weapons either.

Broken Promise is a 2.5 speed and the Quel'serrar, both 232 and 245 versions, are 2.0 speed weapons. These are all slower than Rimefang's. Between the three I believe the 245 QS should be the best threat, the higher dps and slower speed making up for the loss of strength.

Weighing the stats of QS against the stats of the other 2 is a more difficult challenge. The stats on Broken Promise are pretty far behind the stat's on Rimefang's though.

ok out of being a new DK,

I am going for the noobish question, WHATS DW?

and secondly, I have read all the other posts and I have tanking gear plus both tanking swords, basicallyI want to tank but i have seen other DK tanks fail.

So what would be a good normal dungeon to runn as a first time tank...

DW is dual wielding for Frost death knights. Generally you should run as dps and work your way to earn badges till you have your gear (t9 or t10). Grab any tanking looking gear and while you work your way up upgrade your crap.

What the above poster said. Except, that if you see a tank weapon, steer clear. If you don't want to fail like many other DKs, do not ever go for fast/fast, especially not for heroics. Grab two slow DPS weapons.

Well using dps weapons means also loosing stamina and dodge/parry. Its about 30stamina per weapon - so :

If u are fine with threat, i would say go with available fast tank weapons.
If u need more threat, go with 1 or 2 slow weapons, but keep in mind u got surv and avoidance lower.
Im running with rimefang and toc5 tank wep (cos i need expertise), both are fast ones and i dont have threat issues - if i will, i will switch to dps weps

    Re: Frost Tank DW Question

The avoidance you gain from tank weapons compared to a DPS weapon is fairly minimal, due to DRs. The stamina is noticable, but if you want maximum survival and high stamina, you wouldn't go frost anyway, or you'd use two slow DPS weapons, which have the highest stamina of all weapons.

Also, most DPS weapons come with agility, which provides dodge and armor along with crit. Not much, but it's not something you can just ignore.

The only benefit fast/fast has is slightly more HP, at the cost of a ton of threat, higher expertise needed to reach the same level of parry haste as slow/slow (granted, parry haste is turned off on many bosses, but not all).

As said, you can make fast/fast work, like a warrior can tank with a dagger or a slow dps weapon too, but you'll do much better with slow/slow (or god forbid, even slow/medium or slow/fast).
