    Inscription for gold ?

    Hey....

So im thinking, since i have slowly started to grind out loremaster on my shaman-main. Yea, im that bored now =)

He is a fullleveled herbalist/alchemist, and out greed and "good-to-have" thinking. I tend to gather all the herbs i come across. So, atm i have loads of em.

My brain tells me, inscription... do it...

My old main, my gnome mage, is atm just hanging in if as a "bank"... He is a 450 Enchanter/tailor... Im thinking, if its worth tossing tailoring and getting inscription instead with the spare herbs im gathering as i go along. For gold and conveniance that is. I am NOT about to toss herbal on my main, since its just insane not being able to support your profession.

And i know that tailoring is pretty much BiS for casterclasses, but as it is now... i doubt that ill be bringing mr gnome inside a raidinstance any time soon (restoshaman is fun), and i dont have any of the raiddropping recipies for tailoring on him so its not a "loss" in that meaning.

    Re: Inscription for gold ?

Inscriptionist here. Sure, you can make some gold out of inscription but we're talking about like 5g/craft, depending on server you play. Drak'thul EU, glyphs are selling for 1-9g, your cost to make one is like 10c. There's a vendor in Dalaran, who sells all types of ink for Ink of the sea (that's the Northrend one).

Assuming price 15-20g for stack of Adder's Tongue, which turns into 5xInk of the Sea and 1-2xSnowfall ink. If you sell the Snowfall ink you'll realize, you've got your Ink of the Sea almost for free, that means you can make all the glyphs for free. That's much cheaper way, than wasting 30-50lvl herbs like Golthorn, that sell at least on my server for 40-60g stack.

So check prices on your AH, you'll probably make more money just by selling those herbs you gather. As stated above, you can make money out of inscription, but it's boring, slow and painful.

I too have just started out as a scribe to earn gold, before I had it only for shoulder enchants (was too lazy for sons of hodir).

but since friday, I have started to mass produce and sell glyphs. I have earned around 4kg a day (more if I consider the buying of herbs) I buy out all herbs that sell for 90 silver or less (tigers lilly, gold clover, dreadnettle usually sell cheap) and I pay around 1g20s for adder's tongue. I use daily around 40 stacks of herbs fyi, so it is not worth it to herb them yourself.

I have followed www.wowconfidential.com to achieve this.

    You of course mean scribe.

@OP: Which professions will make the most gold is purely realm-specific. On many realms, JCing is a huge moneymaker, on my realm though, cut gems sell for about 5-10g more than uncut, leaving JCing to be pretty bad unless you really know what you're doing. The best advice is to research your market and decide if it's worth it.

Drop Herbalism for Inscription. There's no point in having it the other way around unless herbs go for ridiculous prices (making the grind of getting a decent amount of herbs actually worthwhile). Remember: you don't farm herbs "for free"; they still have value (specifically, value equal to what you could sell them for, be it now or what you expect the prices to be in the future/after the next patch). So you could run around grabbing a bunch of herbs to level inscription... or you could spend ~500g buying herbs, trade inks around in Dalaran, and sell the glyphs you make. Which is worth more to you, that 500g or that four hours of farming? (Hint: 500g is nothing, grinding herbs is boring.)

Enchanting, Tailoring, and Inscription are all good money makers (almost regardless of your realm) if you know what you're doing. Alchemy is less so, but you still won't have to do dailies if you know what you're doing and mixology isn't bad.

Alot of the more widely used glyphs on my server go for 40-60g. The prices here are ridiculous. I made my pally a scribe just to bring some extra cash. On good days, I'll make a couple hundred and weed them down over time. Like I made 100 glyphs that were all ~25g, so 40 the first day for that much, and had em all sold by the end of the week. Ended up with around 2500g made, and spent maybe 150g
I once had a character named "Clamslam" but Blizzard deemed it inappropriate.
Retired from WoW: February 19, 2011. It was fun Blizz.

i make about 300-1000g a day with inscription without undercutting and relisting.
the only thing that sucks is that you need to hav every glyph to sell them. the ones you get from the beginning are the cheapest and might go for around5g a piece, but the rare ones could go up to 60g a piece

Yes it can be done, but in order to make anything upwards of 500g/day you will need to spend hours crafting and sitting on ah cancelling auctions and putting them on again to make sure you are constantly undercutting other inscriptionists (who might be doing the same thing).
yeah, this morning for example, I had to cancel 1.080 auctions that I was undercut on, now that is fun :-\.
