    the autenticator

Can a friend of mine (who plays WoW) buy an authenticator and let me use it ?
If so , how do u do it ?
If not is there any other way to get one without having a visa card ?

    Thank you.

yes you can. Once you buy an authenticator you'll have to activate it, which will bind it to your account. It doesn't matter who's paying for it

You don't use it that way, it's a little electronic gizmo that goes on a keychain, synced with an online server at Blizzard HQ which generates random numbers to allow you to log on. It doesn't transmit or download anything, it isn't connected to the internet, and it doesn't plug in to your computer like a "dongle" does. It works because both server and gizmo have the same random "seed" implanted in it. Occasionally they may have to be resynced.

In reply to your original question, when you get one, to activate it, you log on to your account management, upload the serial number on the device (which is about the size of a USB key, hence the possible misapprehension) and a key number generated at the time, and your account is connected to it. When you log on you press the button on your authenticator, enter the six-figure authenticator code when prompted (if you have one connected there is a slot for it on the same page on which you enter your username and password). So your credit-card-endowed friend can indeed buy you one (make sure you pay him back) without it being attached to his account in the process, but you can't share one between two Battlenet accounts.

uhm no, you need to go to wow-europe.com (or worldofwarcraft.com) and just activate it in account management. (i think, it was a long time ago when i activated mine )

Edit : meh Panjandrum was first xD
