Feral PvP

I have been dying to level my druid to start up Feral pvp for a few months now. My biggest concern was whether to roll feral druid or a rogue. When the ptr was open, I decided it was the best chance to choose which was better for me. My experience was that (remember, the premades start with relentless, not wrathful) rogues were pretty horrid in World PvP unless they had all their cooldowns up. Now, I know a skilled rogue can do better, but remember I have never been a rogue. Anyways, the experience was pretty bad, I could barely kill people without my c/ds and when I did I had no self heals and usually got destroyed before I could go eat.

However, I then made a feral druid. The experience was amazing. Not only could I kill practically every class I fought, but I could do it without a drop of sweat (literally!). Rogues were by far the easiest targets to kill, as if they ever got me in a position where I was being beat on, going bear form made me practically a brick wall. I felt like I was a natural with the class, as I was flawless in pvp with it. Now, here comes the catch. I am afraid the only reason this occurred was for 3 reasons.

1. Everyone on the ptr was trying new classes, so noone was actually good competition or well skilled.

2. With everyone being in relentless, for some reason this might have made things easier, where as if it was a live realm with people in wrathful, I would have a harder time killing others (Although me being in wrathful would then boost my own stats)

3. Feral druids are just overpowered atm


I more or less think #3 is the reason. I was talking to a well known feral druid on our server and according to her, feral druid is just OP right now and nothing is a challenge. So now I am afraid that by the time I level a feral druid, the class will not be OP anymore and world pvp will suck with one.

So my question right now is what do you suggest I do. What is your experience in feral druid world pvp? I am interested in World PvP, not so much arena. Sure, I will do arenas for the gear, but I am more interested in stealthing around the other factions cities or well known spots to destroy practically any 80 I see. I don't see many classes that are as good as a feral druid when it comes to being able to kill almost every class, but from what I have seen, a very geared/skilled warlock can also destroy. I have my 74 warlock from BC and although I love it, the only reason I am deciding feral druid over it, is because of self heals from druids, and stealth. Stealth is probably the biggest factor. Is this a bad choice?

I find PTR to be pretty terrible to test out melee classes due to your ms is 200+ higher than it usually is well it is for me

I find Sub rogue to be pro for world pvp but my advice is play what you enjoy the most yo'

I think you will find if a rogue with enough gear/firepower gets the opener on 'you'. you may not have as much of an easy time dispatching it as just jumping bear form asap. (Namely because of the severe damage you will have already taken while not in it, if you see what I mean)

Glad you like the class, but I think you should add a #4 saying ''I may have just got lucky and not fought brilliant players that day.'' I'm not trying to degrade your achievements as a druid, but it's a very real factor of online PvP and you may find you don't do as well on another day, or at another time. I know similar things have happened to me.

Read #1, that was what I was referring to..since everyone is experimenting noone is really as skilled as a real person with that class being their main. On the ptr even a rogue opening on me couldn't always beat me, but idk. I know I should play what I like, but what I like is what is the best as far as what can kill the most combination of classes

Ferals have always done well in PvP because they can track, stealth, and run away. The PvP 4-set bonus is also REALLY GOOD for world pvp, questing, and grinding. The key to doing well in world-pvp is picking your fights, and no one can do that better.

Against low resilience targets, without a pvp trinket, the fight is usually over before the other party can really react. If you are in PvP gear, and they are not: you win. Against a prepared opponents, you will have a much harder time.

That being said, world pvp is basically dead. Flying mounts pretty much killed it off. In faction cities, enemies are generally safe until they attack you, and once they know you are there, you lose most/all of your advantage.

If you don't care for arena then druid class for you. It is (and always has been) the best world pvp class imo.

Given equal pvp gear in a 1v1 situation you will only really have a problem with 3 classes at present, In order from hardest you would have Affliction warlocks, Other feral druids & Shadow priests. Hunters and frost mages woul rank in the most annoying but you can generally still kill them.
