    Increase flight speed please...

I remember a post discussing whether we will have to buy new mount ranks to be able to fly in the new Azeroth (like cold weather flying), and the answer was no. However, we should be able to buy another improvement on the flight speed, to increase it to 350% or even 400% because, maybe am the only one thinking this, but Kalimdor/Eastern Kingdom seem to be WAY bigger than Outland and Northrend... Imagine flying from Eversong to Booty Bay, if the current in-game flight master has the same speed we currently have, that's ~12-15 mins in flight. But then again I might be wrong. What do you guys think?

You can fly in a straight line, and at 310%, which is faster than flight paths. Should only take maybe 7 or 8 minutes, which isn't too long. Plus, you'll not really need to make those long flights anyway very often, I doubt many players will bother flying out to look around after the first week.

Blizzard once stated that current flight speed is even too much (iirc they said so before Cataclysm plans were revealed, tho). And they said countless times that there isn't any current plan to increase it over 310%. That's no guarantee, tho, seeing how many times they changed mind
Personally I don't really feel the need for higher speed, travelling is already trivial in WoW and it's not like you will have to fly all time from Winterspring to Tanaris. When you have to, you can just use the good old flight paths, go AFK and get a drink or some sunlight. I don't think it would be an improvement on game design.

Reroll holy pally with 310% drake, you can go about 430% for 5 or 6 seconds. =D

You finally get to fly in azeroth and people are bitching that it's too slow. Should take away your flying mounts and make you walk for saying that.

    1) personally, i think flying mounts, as cool as they were, should be completely taken out of the game, and everything should be done with flight routes on npc mounts again. or portals, like they are everywhere nowadays. and instance/bg/arena port systems. and more items with personal portals/teleports/hearthstone effects. etcpp.

    2) no!

    3) the world was more alive

Funny thing - I JUST read a post that complained about flying mounts at all and leading to an empty world (along with dungeon finder), and that the use of flying mounts should be restricted. Now I read a QQ thread about how 310% isn't ENOUGH!

    1) RAWR mounts are bad because people use them!
    2) RAWR mounts are bad because they are too slow!

    ...gotta love the internet...

310% is plenty - especially if you're aware of your WoW geography (and things like zeppelins/boats). Add in the ability to hit Dalaran/Shattrath for portals (especially with the rings from Dalaran) and you're golden. Tricks like the BRD tunneler help, too. Add in further being a shaman/druid/DK, or an engineer, or having inscription, and you rarely need to spend much time traveling at all.

I think you'll also find that Northrend zones are a lot bigger than those on Kalimdor/Eastern Kingdoms: Howling Fjord, for example, seemed huge back when I first got there.

With that said, I'd love to see something like "if you have a 310% speed mount, ALL of your flying mounts are 310% speed" - that way I'd keep my speed, but be able to go back to things like a nether drake or nether ray just for the looks.

I will not be satisfied until the game reads my mind on where I want to go, then takes me there instantly.

Don't you mean until the games plays for you but without human errors so your character plays perfectly :P

Anyway for OP as said before there is no way you will need to make those kinds of long flights at all. Also if you actually needed that, just ask a mage in Eversong for a Stonard Portal and you cut the flight time by 80%?

LOL Blizzard said they are happy with current speeds and don't plan to increase it

WoW flight model is so awesome

310% is fine, even a little too fast imo, stop bitching.

  14. #14
And remember that real WoW players can synchronize their real life activities with flight times.

Fingers crossed for a Surfboard mount.

I hope they increase the speed on normal flight paths to make them worth using over jsut flying there on your 310%. FPs are currently at 300% speed if i remember right, maybe make them to 4 or 500%.

bliz already said they will never go past 310 speed

Actually 310% isn't faster than flight path. I have a 310% on my main druid with the Dual seat rocket. Flight paths actually fly at 432% roughly. 310% speed mounts fly at 410% respectively. The only way really to go faster than flight paths (And I have tested it) is to have a 310% mount with crusader aura or a similar effect. I did it on my rocket with a pally and we ended up at 492% which is as you can tell faster than the flight path speed. I actually chased a gnome on a flight path from dalaran to sholazar.

That being said 280% is fine. 310% is fine. If you want faster... purchase a flight path flight. If they made standard flying faster than flight path's there would be absolutely no reason to ever use flight paths. There still wouldn't be unless you know the flight path won't take you too far out of the way.

Edit: Changed 462% to 432% just tested it in game.

If they made mounts go any faster, I think the scale of such a massive world would kinda decrease considering how fast you can get around it.

But I also want faster mounts ;(

I think the more immediate issue is :

Why not let the other mounts be 310% once u have access to one?
