You basically got it. FoL Paladin's are made for when your raid also has a HL paladin, and in that case, FoL makes for a GREAT spike healer.. Raid healer is to assume incoming damage and adjust their heals to compensate. As a FoL your basically looking for whoever has the lowest health, and shoving HUGE spikes of damage in less than the time of a GCD.

When I did FoL I basically was doing Luminous Ametrines in Yellow. Runed Cardinal Ruby is Red Sockets, and Royal Dreadstones for Blue Sockets. I would still do a normal 54/17/0 or 51/20/0 spec as you would, for maximum raid utility. And just replace HL glyph with FoL for the extra 5% crit..

Also, replace Luminous with Reckless Ametrine for Yellow sockets if you are below 649(correct me if I am wrong) haste.

Sounds about right. Just a couple of things:

Solo healing as in what? In heroics FoL actually performs better in most cases. Raid tank healing depends on the encounter, but mostly it'll be the HL healers taking the cake, yeah. However, your overhealing should be lower than theirs by a mile.

I've kinda learned to love FoL healers because they're so damn rare and mostly know what they're doing. No offence to the good HL healers, but many seem to be unable to heal anything that requires more than mindless one-button spamming.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, or haven't healed with a paladin before WotLK's "I KAN SPAM HL I IZ GUD" craze, or both.

I chose to play a FoL paladin because I loathe the HL style, and I wanted to do something different from all the HL paladins out there today. I can tank heal 10 man ICC just fine and perform well in 25 man. In many of the 25 mans I've been on, I'm in the top 3 heals done for a boss fight, many times surpassing HL paladins that think they're good and end up doing really poorly.

I've been ridiculed for my spec, but when people see that I can keep up just fine with it, and perform well, they tend to shut up. Anyone who thinks it's a bad spec (and owns a holy paladin) needs to delete it now or learn a little more about their class.

And for everyone who thinks HL is auto win...there's a person on my server who pretty much only plays healer classes. They brought their HL pally to a 25 man ICC (with a 5.7k GS) and proceeded to get outhealed by shamans and druids the entire run.

Let's also say that a skilled FoL paladin who likes that gameplay style will outperform a bored HL healer, which from what I gather was one of the points of the OP.

Dude, you do know that a FoL pally could of out-performed that HL during that role easily. Didn't you notice how much he used FoL?? Believe if instead of doing 9k FoL's(Back in 10% buff), you would do 12-13k Non-crit FoL's.

During the times spent actually casting Flash of Light, it was important to get them out "now", not how much they were actually healing for.

If you'd look beyond that, you'd also be able to see that when Holy Light was required, a Flash Paladin could never keep up.

You came to the wrong place if you're looking for some form of constructive criticism on this topic.

you do realize hl pallys can spam holy light basically indefinitely also? mana efficiency makes no difference since neither spec will go oom. The only difference is output, which hl will do 2x more at least. So what is the point of fol healing besides being a special little snowflake? as far as healing heroics, you can heal them with judgement of light and holy shock alone... does that mean you should gear for it?

also as far as gearing, so you will get crit pieces instead of haste pieces once you hit gcd cap... except these are crit/mp5 pieces, which you wont need the mp5, so you are basically wasting stats.
