Fury: Enrage effect feels "passive" and not really fun?

    Hi there

My first post on this forum, so first of I'd like to give credit to a very good source of information that this website has been to me in my time playing wow.

So here goes...btw. this is in no way ment as a QQ post.

I'm currently levelling my warriror so that's ready at level 80 when cata hits the streets, however, I'm a bit undecided as to how much fun enrage actually is? I've tried playing Fury warrior on beta and it just feels a bit as if the enrage button and effects are too similar to a passive effect that just boost you dps, but really does have the fun factor?

I'm really excited about some of the attacks. Cleave, heroic strike and slam feels a little uninteresting especially if they more or less are designed as rage dump?

I'd like it when my warrior is right in the heat of things dual wielding away, and there are fun attacks/buttons to hit, but maybe instead of all the enrage/do x% more damage there should be some more signature moves or redesign some of the abilities mentioned earlier?

Maybe I should say that the reason I want a warriror is mainly for dual wield and the ability to tank. I used to be a paladin, but didn't really like retribution, so I was always tanking. Warrior dps seems more fun, but just not sure wether I should consider making a death knight as they also have dual wield and tanking. Just wanted to give you an idea where I'm coming from

So the question isn't really if I should go DK instead. I want a warrior more than Dk, but to mix up tanking form time to time with some nice dps'ing please tell fury is cool and fun. Don't want faceroll - I want an active playstile that is considered challenging so that good players shine.

Again not ment as QQ - just isn't really convinst that fury will be all I hope it to be at max level/cataclysm?

Ps. I don't really pvp, so don't really consider arms spec, and again my main dps focus will be dual wielding.

    Thanks

If you really do like warriors, like I do, then you will make it fun.

Care to elaborate on that, JustintimeSS?

What do you find fun when you play a warrior - spec ect?

If you're pvp'ing, there's a lot more to the class than just getting enraged and hitting harder. There's making sure you go all out WHEN you're enraged as well as spell reflects and silences (what with gag order and all) as well as greater mobility. Overall though, it does seem like most things arms has to work for fury has passively such as mortal strike effect and even rage generation.

The build will have greater mobility ue to heroic fury as well as on demand burst which is super reliable and will stack with enrage for tons of damage. I feel as though we might even be the ret paladins of cataclysm (not in the faceroll way but in the burst way).

I believe the point of the fury warrior is for you to look forward and work towards gaining your enrage. So not only do you get the passive dps increase, but you get to start RBing your foes, as you gain more mastery then the amount of RBs you can throw will go up as well.

Also a lot of it is juggling your active enrages - bloodrage, deathwish, etc - with your passive enrages to try and maintain as high an enrage uptime as possible, this makes the spec much more "thinky" and therefor interesting to play. The smartest warriors will figure out how to do it and hopefully be head and shoulders above other warriors on the meters. I just hope that they don't penalize the not so smart warriors too heavily.

Sure thing. These are the things I find fun while playing my warriors:

Prot: I've been prot on my main warrior since the game released so i have grown with the spec and the class and come to love everything about it that has changed or stayed the same. We have gained so much more multi-target threat and damage that I can't help but smile and though this is sometimes universally frowned on because we got the WotLK treatment, I still rather enjoy shockwave, clyph of cleave and imp revenge. Mobility has always tickled me as a warrior and I just adore how I can zoom around with so much ease. Charge in combat and in Def stance, Intercept in Def stance and intervene are so freaking awesome that I want to stop writing and go play it right now. Don't even get me started on how sick PVP is as prot... As far as the future, I really enjoy how far shield slam has come and it feels great to be back in prots hands once again in Cata. Speaking of Cata, I am anxious for the righteous amounts of self healing prot can get and the ability to weave in other skills like VR and Rend.

Fury: I love fury because of its epic feel. Being able to DW 2H weapons has been a warriors dream since we first heard about it so so long ago and its epic feel has yet to wear off for me.I also enjoy the current "rotation" for fury with the proc based slams, albeit it is rather simple. In Cata the "rotation" has a bit more flavor and despite a lot of nay-saying, I have heard from a guildie that enrage stays up almost the entire duration of encounters. Having a couple more abilities isn't going to be a bad thing really, but again this is my opinion on the matter and not a min/max 25m HC persons thoughts.

Arms: Arms to me is so wicked, even in PVE due to the idea of the spec. I love hitting one ability and seeing a row of debuffs on the target. I love seeing huge numbers and constant crits and I love the fact that with one 2H weapon you can still hold your own. On top of all that I really love the charge in combat. That to me is a huge fantastic part of being a warrior and Arms really represents that well. The future of arms seems exciting still, and again, i want lots of hands on time with my warriors, but I don't see anything really negative in our trees or our abilities. I don't arena anymore (not since BC) but I do get in the BGs with my arms warrior. I'm nothing special but good freaking God is it fun as hell. From the mobility to the lawlstorm I never find myself upset.

    Thanks a lot guys.

Especially JustintimeSS - you sold it to me

That information that enrage could be up all the time is probably what felt "passive" to me, but if you have to really plan that and therefore its not a given, then fine with me. That means good players will benefit more from it that the rest, and then its not as passive to me.

I'll definately also do a lot of tanking as prot warrior seems more fun than the same role as a paladin. Since prot warrior sound good both as solo and pvp I think there's some interesting options in cata.

Oh, and Colossus Smash seems epic.

I'll go warrior when I want the badass feel and play my shaman when I feel like healing or range dps'ing.

    Again, thanks guys

NP, always good to have another passionate warrior around. Not to mention one with a Shaman alt, such as myself.
