    No maintenance on Tuesday but....

Remember awhile back when there was a post mentioning that Blizzard had no implications to do maintenance on tuesday?

I was just reminded that there are several key features that have not been implemented yet such as old world flying and guild leveling/guild features/perks - Think it will just arrive in a short update? Because if it does - i suspect there will of course be tons of issues and they will have to apply hotfixes, I would not be surprised if there was some moderate downtime for quick rolling restarts following the release.

They have been implemented. We just need our Accounts to be Flagged with the Cataclysm ID.

From what I understand, they are already implimented into the game. For example in Orgrimmar there is already a portal to Tol Borad, and Uldum is already in the game, having glitched partially in it on my DK via water walking around it/tanaris its pretty obvious that while the servers will be crashing due to returning players, and stretched capacity, things will go somewhat smoothly.

They're already patched in you just need to tie a cataclysm key (and wait for December 7th) to your account to activate them.

But why would guild leveling/perks not be a feature they make applicable to all the WoW expansions?

as a matter of fact you can see the guild achievements in game right now, if you have the right code. there is another post about that but im too lazy to link it :-D

Basically what I am getting at is how this will affect players without cata that are in the same guild with people who have cata in that players with cata get the guild benefits and those without it - even though part of the guild - do not. Im just trying to understand the thought process on blizzards part here aside from "buy the new expansion".

It's going to be the same process as people flying in Azeroth. People with Cataclysm can fly after buying the skill... Are people without Cataclysm going to be able to? No. Will they see other people flying in Azeroth? Yes.

Because they don't have the Cataclysm ID on their account, they don't get access to the Perks. Others who have the ID will.

A feature like flying in azeroth could be limited though - because when we got the shattering patch - if you tried to go into a cata area like uldum you would get kicked out - why not just do that in order to limit people who don't have the expansion rather than just not letting them fly?

Why would anybody play WoW, but not buy the latest expansion anyways? All this fuss about nothing!

some people - lower age population - might have to wait till christmas or their birthday's or maybe when people can afford it. I'm not in that category by the way.

I'm just going to go with, it's their game, so they make the calls.
There is tons of things they could do, but don't and Id say just stick with that reason and leave it at that.

Ask Blizzard. They'll give you the same reason I just gave you. :P
Guild Perks is just another thing that people WITH Cataclysm will have.
Just Like Worgen/Goblin, Flying, Leveling to 85, Leveling up Professions to 525, Etc...

I love how blizzard never looks back to consider issues they are overlooking that might improve their playerbase loyalty...

My account is already fully upgraded to Cataclysm. (Digital Download)

We need the servers to allow a lot of features, which they will at 12am PST on the 7th.

Everything is implemented, it just needs to trigger server side.

And flying in Az is a bit different than Guild Perks, I'm just saying that blizzards reasoning is confuddling and the general consensus that people always give is "Because Blizz feels like it" which is not a legitimate argument imo.

They have 12 million active subscribers, a number that will only continue to go up for quite awhile. I think they are doing pretty okay with customer loyalty...

I agree that Guild perks is a tad strange, but at the same time, they have no obligation to continue providing new features that could instead be shipped with an expansion.

I mean there are already QQ posts like "WOW Blizz Cata is ruined because you gave the old world to everybody and that was the whole point QQQQ111".

Those would be amplified 100 times over if they started giving away other things.

A think a free overhaul of nearly the entire world and free new race/class combinations cover the loyalty part.
