This has been happening to me for like 15 years. I have spent countless hours staring at street lights trying to control my powers but not yet. I have turned one off once and I thought I had finally become a superhero although what a terrible super power. I am sure your powers are no match for mine.

Some street lights use there own light sensor to turn them on after the sun goes down. As they age some of them start acting bipolar from car lights and the the reflection of there own light from nearby objects.

This is what you're looking for. Street lamps have a light sensor that turns them on and off. Saves a lot of energy from systems where they all just turn on and off at a set time. When those sensors get old or start malfunctioning they can become extra sensitive to any form of light and turn off to street cars or even the light from other street lamps.

Hah, this is hilarious, I've always wondered if the internet had something for this (and of course it does). It is something I have noticed myself, but it is just coincidence. It does sometimes feel like it happens more often than random chance would account for though, which is probably just my brain searching for a pattern, or whatever. Like brains do.
