Plate "Spell DPS" - Holy as ranged damage?

So I was looking through the new item lists and I noticed a few that caught my eye; Paleblade Shoulderguards and Fallen Sentinel Bracers. With Denounce on the Holy ability tree as a ranged attack, Holy Shock being quite formidable and with Holy getting a 15% chance to hit with Denounce, Holy Shock and Judgment, do you think Blizzard is paving way for a ranged DPS holy build?

Honestly, I think it would be pretty cool if there was a Paladin RDPS class, not necessarily if Holy was able to do it (because they would still be healers first and foremost). Maybe if they ever do have a tri-spec and a fourth talent tree for more than just Druids, there would be a spellpower plate RDPS "Inquisitor" type build.

Well i think even when they can do dmg they will run out of mana rly fast

I would really like to see them make the shockadin a viable dps class. At the moment, there's no holy spell dps, let alone one that wears plate, so it would be a cool addition to the game.

The only reason that that gear was marked as "Spell DPS" is because it doesn't have spirit on it. It has no hit, and there is not Hit/Int Plate gear.
While Blizzard is making it more possible for Holy to do some damage, it is more for leveling and pvp purposes. Chances are that they wont ever bring back a true Shockadin playstyle.

No but I would put money on the next class being able to wear plate intellect gear.

Thats something i was wondering about, if they will ever bring another class who can wear plate int. gear, but what kind of class could that be?

This is exactly how I played my paladin in Cata, and how I plan to play it in MoP.

Worked pretty good in BH just because exorcism was 100% crit on demons.

Blizzard would only need to make a paladin version of the disc priest "atonement" that smart-heals a nearby friendly target for the damage you deal with some spells, and there would be a lot of holy paladins happy in the world....

On the topic though, i would be happy if you could decently farm and solo content as a holy paladin, realy... not interessed in being #1 in the dps charts, just enough to have some fun soloing and questing as holy.

Well about the only thing they need to make this happen and it would be simple to add would be a holy power finisher to holy so that they can do somethign with HP if you are dpsing.

As Kerfex said, it's spell dps because of the lack of spirit on it. We have spell dps gear in cata right now ( like the t12 healing gloves) but that doesn't mean that we can stand in the back and be a mage:P

The next class will wear Mail armor.

As of right now there are 3 plate classes, 3 Cloth classes, 3 leather classes as of MoP with the Monk which leaves Mail armor classes at 2.

Let's stay on topic here: caster DPS spec for Paladins.

I would love to see a caster DPS spec for paladins. It's a definite possibility if they start developing a fourth spec for all of the classes.

As to the 'shockadin' style, that involved healing along with DPS, correct? It can't happen. The best you'd be able to hope for is to do half of the possible healing and damage of someone similarly geared, otherwise it would be overpowered.

Caster DPS for palas is interesting and has long since been talked about. However, I think it's for leveling up if you want to be holy or to provide some small dps at times in fights where they is little or no damage and you can spare the mana.

Neither damage nor mana are a problem atm. I really thought the scaling would screw over the damage, but it is still quite strong and with the level 90 Talents you get to press another holy damage button.
Is it strong for a healing specc? Yes!
    Can you top damagemeters? Never.

I think the right place for shockadins is where it came from: Pvp.
Imagine a 2 1/2 dps setup in 3on3 arenas (monks should be able to fill that roll, too) - At least no 3dps scum, right? :P

I've been using Shocks quite alot recently in the new Heroics.
Usually hitting around 12k dps -20k dps ; it ain't much - but it's better then nothing at all.
Mana also doesn't seem like a huge issue if you trinket/plea dance.

Take the glyph "Harsh Words" and you have a finisher. In combination with the "Word of Glory"-Glyph (more Damage after using WoG) and Glyph of Holy Shock (more damage, less healing with HS) Holy Paladin is okay in doing damage. I've done some dailys with this spec and it's okay, but with the amount of selfheal a Ret Paladin has, it's not the best option
