    Trouble with hit chance?

Hello! I have a rather curious conundrum for the wizards that be.

I have been hearing that hit rating is 5100; which is 15% I believe. So I have been shooting for that number. However, I currently have a rating of 4880 and a 0% miss chance on everything. This, as some people would say, is attributed to the pvp items I have equipped (a 450 bracer/458 ring). However, I sat at a Raiding Target Dummy for 5 minutes, ensuring that nothing at all was being missed. I saw no misses, no bombs that exploded missed, and nothing I can tell wasn't hitting.

I am a human mage, with the percentages being differed. The 2 percents I get at 4880 (14.35%) [This is what shows up if I hover over Spell Hit], and 16.62% (the number that shows up without hovering).

I can't use maces, so that racial is ruled out. Sword isn't equipped, a staff is, so this rules that factor out as well. I have no buffs that attribute to any hit rating, nor any talents/skills (at least, nothing that I could see..) that increased hit.

    Any clues?

What I can gather from my character at least is that the two different percentages are based on the actual hit rating you have on your gear (just hit from the actual "hit stat") and the hit rating you have based on the combination of hit and expertise (since it now gives spell hit).

Thus if you have anything reforged to expertise (or have an expertise enchant) it will show in the "overall" hit percentage (the one shown in the stats page without hovering) but won't be shown in the hovered over stats since that only calculates hit based on how much hit from the "hit stat" you have (if any of that makes sense).

I apologize. This is my armory. I should have listed that, my fault.

So, if I am reading this right. they haven't calculated the expertise into casters hit? Sorta? Like they have, but haven't updated the actual tool-tip? If so, am I to assume my hit of 16.62 is 1.62% over the hit cap?

    Yes.

I reforged expertise on my chest for giggles (After my raid leader pointed out to me that I had a Str/Hit gem instead of an Int/Hit >.<)

I'm currently at about 14.5% hit, however the armory and in game tooltip doesn't show Spell Hit from Expertise, nor does it show Draenei Racial for 1% hit. So it shows 12.9% instead of 14.5%.

Basically, your "Spell Hit Chance" without mousing over, is the only thing that's accurate. I tested it myself by doing that reforge.

TLDR: Herp derp, Blizzard thinks updating tooltips is hard.

    Exactly right.

You have 14.35% natural hit, plus an additional 2.26% Expertise being converted into hit for a total of 16.61%.

You need to make sure your hit rating + expertise rating is 5100.

Hopefully they'll do a fix for the character sheet and armory soon as it's unnecessarily confusing.
