    Premonition Feelings

This is a topic for discussion.

Have you ever gotten a gut wrenching (or similar) foreboding feeling that something just went wrong or is about to and it ends up being right? Like say you get the feeling that something bad is about to happen and then bad news comes. Has it happened to you? And if you get the feeling how accurate is it to you?

I'm making this topic because I get the feeling nearly every time I am about to get news (or something is about to happen) that I won't like, or even sometimes when I am doing something completely wrong and should back off. Every time I have ever gotten that feeling, the premonition if you call it, something happens that I don't like or I had just done something unintentionally that hurt a relationship or something. I have ended up using it as a warning signal, and recently it happened to me again, randomly when I thought things were going good and smooth, and so it made me wonder if it's something I can actually trust, and if other people have similar things that happen to them.

Answer saying your experiences with this premonition type feeling and how accurate it was for you.

Mr. Moderator I think you're going to need to give me a more concrete example of something that you personally had a prediction about.

As a man of science I don't really believe in stuff like this. I do believe that subconsciously information you picked up can read situations and lead you to understand something might go wrong, but out of the blue predictions? Not possible for me.

I mean. Sometimes I get a feeling things will go bad but that's because logically I knew there was a chance of it going bad. I can't even think of an example though lol.

I guess you could call it that, instead of a premonition, it's your subconscious picking up something before you actually do thus you get that gut feelings about things. But I mean, these aren't the feelings I get when im nervous about something, these are what I get when things about to go flat out wrong.

Driving down a highway one night, myself in passenger seat. Had a sudden and very vivid flash of a moose crashing into my side of the van. The dog that was with us in the van suddenly lunged tween the seats (bucket style) startling us, which made my friend slow down... and miss the moose that came barreling out of the woods right across the road. On my side of the van.

that's not really a premonition, that's just picking up cues from the environment. my aunt actually had real premonitions, she foresaw some of her grandparents death down to the exact date they would die. she might still do it, but nobody likes her anymore because of it, so if she does see anything these days she isn't telling.

I've had things happen before I can't necessarily explain.

There's been a few occasions when I've been driving and out of nowhere thought to myself "I should slow down, there's a cop ahead," and I've slowed down, and sure enough half a mile down the road around a corner there's one right there waiting, or one comes driving around a corner from the other direction.

Had a particularly rocky relationship with one girl. I had a really strange dream one night where I saw her taking off her pants and getting into a large bed with some other guy and a girl. Come to find out a couple days later that she'd been cheating on me with this guy she worked with and his female roomate, both of whom I'd never met before.

Same girl actually, I'd been expecting her to show up at my place, I fell asleep, woke up a couple hours later, and had the immediate thought "she's at (place)." And not a place that she frequented that would be obvious, like a friend's house or something. I decided to drive over and see if I was right. Sure as shit, there she was sitting in her truck with some other guy she was sleeping with. (Yeah, don't ask, after 7 years that relationship devolved into who could do the worst to the other in the end)

And there's been other times, where I can't remember specifics, but I've just known something was wrong and found out I was right not long after.

Mostly, I've just learned to listen to myself.

You are not alone on this! I get the same "gut feeling" when stuff is about to go sideways, often get a very strong urge to flee away as well, I mean really flee, it's almost at a primitive level.

Personally I believe it's our sixth sense or animal flight mechanism that kicks in when our brain subconsciously detect danger.
How it happens I have no idea, it's probably the brain puzzling together bits and pieces of information that our conscious brain missed or overlooked.

It wasn't me, but my mom had a really terrible gut instinct type of feeling when my sister went out to a party after a bad day of searching for a new phone (hers died and had to get a new one which we didn't find). Anywho long story short my sister got either A. Got drugged (which we think) or B. Was completely drunk (there was no blood test while she was in the hospital and the ER people couldn't smell alcohol on her prior to surgery, cops asked) and crashed her car going the wrong way killing her boyfriend and injuring 3 others.

Ya, that was a pretty terrible experience for my family and my mom hasn't been the same since.

That also seems very plausible, because im trying to figure out if I should really trust the instinct I had with it or not. I literally fled on a more primitive level and now I'm trying to figure out if I overreacted or something bad was literally about to go down (or did go down just without me knowing it) and what I should do over the next following days.

I think the sensation is quite common. Subconsciously, you pick up and calculate hints, events and surroundings. Then, your subconsciousness (basically your instinct) rings an alarm bell, which is that gut-feeling of something bad going to happen. And then something bad happens.

coast to coast, the late night talk radio show had a lady on once talking about this. There is a more accurate name for it. I can't remember it right this second. someone will come on here and know what I'm talking about.

Sometimes I have the sense of premonition when playing certain games but that is more of a logic process predicting what is most likely to happen based on previous events but that is much different. The sense of premonition is more of a feeling about what will happen next, that only happens when I play a game seriously (think League of Legends for 3 hours a day for a week) my reasoning gets more and more accurate the more I play. My sense of premonition is born from my ability to read and predict patterns.

I also sometimes have déjà vu. I will be doing something or hearing someone speak and then I will remember something that will happen or be said in the next few seconds. It doesn't happen often, usually only once or twice over the course of several months. The memories are also quite short lived, it'll just be a few small events or a couple of sentences spoken.

I trust my gut feelings to 100% , it kept me alive for almost 25 years. There is no such thing as overreacting when it comes to these feelings.
I would even be so bold to say that logic and reason could be dangerous in these situations as it can override our basic instincts and trick us that things are just fine when they're really not.

Extrasensory perception? And that word is bogus if that's the word you meant?

I think everyone has these feelings. It's after all a very good trait to have evolutionary-wise.

There's actually been a recent study about this: http://news.yahoo.com/bodies-predict...174103077.html

"The finding suggests that people's bodies subconsciously sense the future when something important is about to happen, even if the people don't know it."

It's just your brain subconsciously processing information and reaching a conclusion about impending disaster/fortune before you realised it consciously.

I'm way too paranoid to accurately get these feelings. For example, if I'm riding in a car, and there are roads perpendicular to the one we're on, I just imagine every car pulling up to ignore the traffic/stoplight/stop sign and just ramming into us.

There are some obvious situations though. Like, anytime my roommate knocks on my door and comes in. It's always something important (and never good). But that's not really a "feeling" more so than just logic, or something.

I'm with Pendulous on this one.

Sometimes I think something bad is going to happen, and then something bad happens, sometimes I think something bad is going to happen, and then nothing bad happens, because I always think something bad is going to happen.

But yea, logically if you think about it. This is what's happening:
