    SWTOR Insider #4

So once again, completely underwhelming video that says much of nothing. Guy #1 is awkward and clearly not cut out for PR, Guy #2 is the same smug Cartel Market douchebag that was in the last one. I love how he says he's going to give a preview of all these things coming to the market and then only says a new Cartel Pack is coming. what.the.fuck.is.going.on.over.there.

I implore all of you to not waste your real money on these cartel packs, because clearly they are getting the message that making them is all that is required to fulfill everyone's needs. Vote with your wallet and just get them with credits from dumber people. Not trying to insult anyone, but videos like this make me angry. Coupled with the fact that they are pushing the patch without testing on the PTR...ugggggghhh.

The other video they released on the event itself was much better. With a giant wompa guy, giant worm, and giant spydroid. Im a bit ansi for this update but wondering if we are going to end up in fps hell trying to do anything on ilum or voss.

First guy is a producer, not a PR guy. PR can media train the devs, but that doesn't mean they can cure awkwardness. They're not necessarily known for being the most charismatic people. Though at the same time, I'm thinking back to The Republic episodes where they ask, "Who the fuck are these people working on the game now?"

If only the put the same kind of effort into the game as they put into their marketing materials. Seriously, I've never seen a game so consistently heavily marketed, it blows me away.

On the one hand I don't like the random packs, but they seem to sell well and there's a demand for them. I don't think they're the most beneficial thing for gameplay, but there are far worse things they could be doing in the market.

All I got from that was:

    - 'Free Rocket Boots for all' (Legacy level 1?).

    - Confusing: 'Once you've hit level 10 and unlocked your legacy...' ????

    - Omg, an Ubrikkian speeder with a Krayt skull slapped on the front???

Excuse the grumpiness, everyone in the family down with the flu.

Demand for the packs? I seriously doubt anybody desperately wants to spend money on randomly generated virtual crap. What some people will spend money (and a lot of it) on, is the infinitesimal chance getting some virtual crap hyped as cool: Nihilus' mask and whatnot.

Of course, BioWare could just sell whatever new item is the IT thing, but then they'd make less money off the ridiculous people that just have to have it, no matter how low the chance is from some stupid box, and will spend until they get it.

Then they probably go to some Occupy rally and tweet about how impoverished they are on their iPhones.

No need to bash people for how they spend their money.

    That was awesome.

Now thats out of the way.

I dont understand the shoulder issue. Why are they going to charge for a fix to it? Can someone explain the issue. Is it on all the gear now? is it on only gear you got from the CM? Was it gear they updated and putting the old stuff back on the CM? Just the way he said it it sounnded like they are going to make you pay for something they messed up and thats their fix to it.

Now for the event. All missions on ilum grant you gree rep!!!!!!!!! Once they like you they will let you board the ship to kill a boss on it? Are these gree people good or bad? If they are bad then why are they giving you gear and if they are good then why are you killing something on their ship?

you are doing the killing because they do not have the trained personnel to do it themselves. and in this environment they are neither good nor bad they are businessmen using both sides of the galaxy to do their dirty work.

NOW as to this video i believe that there were several that said that once the market opened all future content would be developed for the market and guess what in ALL the patches since the market launch it has been ALL ABOUT packs and sales on the market. yea we have this shitty 9yea i think it will be) content patch to sate the gullible masses with piddling content while waiting on the bucks to roll in from the *free* but have to pay for DLC *expansion*

i am sad to admit that I still sub to this but only cuz the $15 dont mean much to me (also finishing up the BH and IA stories) so meh but the downward shape this game is in is sad and pathetic.........

since F2P launch we have seen FIVE packs introduced and little to NONE of any meaningful content since Section X from a company that said to expect several content updates every few weeks. Well i guess we know what content they are interested in more

man i just might just jump on Kittys wagon and take a ride with him

I get you're mad. Your money and time, your choice. However BW did state there would be content every 6-8 weeks. They never once said 'expect several content patches every few weeks'. Where'd you get that from?

Section X and the new Warzone were released and 9 weeks later (they warned to expect a week delay due to xmas) this event and rep system is here. It's not your cup of tea? It's not fast enough or big enough content? Fine but it is being delivered just as promised. I wish that they'd stay clear of the Cartel rubbish but alas that's the way they're going.

As for the content they've been releasing it every 6-8 weeks since July iirc...just as they said they would. Whether you like the new raid, warzone, daily area, HK mission, Heroic Space missions, events or reputation system is up to you.

Could someone make a video of all the old swtor dev team talking and freeze frame on each person and have a little bit about where they are now while playing "dont you forget about me" or w.e. 80s movie style.
    (Warframe) - Dragon & Typhoon-
(Neverwinter) - Trickster Rogue & Guardian Fighter -

I'm in the same boat as you man. That first guy, whoever he is, seems to be someone who actually cares about the game but has no idea how to communicate to a camera. I feel so bad for him.

In regards to people compaining about content, I understand where they are coming from. You are right that they are putting it out in roughly the schedule they outlined, but it's very evident to the community that they are spending all of their time making a new cartel pack ever other week, using reskinned models, instead of making great and engaging content.

On top of that, I feel like half their day is spent making nonproductive fluff videos like this one. I'm sure we all watch them for the same reason. We think to ourselves, "Ok...this is the one that is going to have that mind blowing wtf announcement to make us as excited for this game since we were at launch". And then we get...well...these things.

It's pretty sad. I just looked at Wildstar yesterday and it may have to be my new SciFi MMO of choice, especially if it launches F2P.

Remember when casey shriner, on the mmo report, found out that swtor was going to launch as a subscription game and pretty much turned on it?
I, personally, was pissed but I wasn't enraged like he was.
From now on, if an mmo doesn't launch as f2p (or at the very least b2p) I won't be funding it.

Yeah...I admit that I was totally not interested until I actually looked at it. It gives me vibes of Firefly, the aesthetic of original wow that has been brought to modern graphics tech, and has a lot of personality.

I think that is actually one of the strong points in SWTOR that they didn't focus enough on. The characters and humor that are present in the game should have been expanded. The leveling process should have been all personal story, minimal extra questing, and this game would be loads better...still love that part about the game and is the only reason it's still installed for me to eventually see every story the game has to offer.

I think I'm on the same boat. A combination of seeing games ruined or making cash grabs as sub games (like swtor) and seeing companies make amaznig F2P/B2P models that work(tera, gw2) makes me a firm believer in the free revolution.

Even as a Rift player, so fully understanding the value of a sub and a company that lives up to it, I realize that it is fading away. It honestly reminds me of Blockbuster and movie rentals. We all saw it coming, but netflix and streaming services just blasted that outdated method out of the water. All we have are nostalgic memories of being kids and walking down the new release wall on a Fri night looking for something awesome.

I don't think I will be able to support another subscription game again either. I'm sure many people will think we've hopped onto the freeloader wagon, except I'm fully prepared to spend money in a cash shop with these games. It actually makes me more excited to give them money, because they've given me so much already. To know that I get to play a decent to amazing game for free, but then I can spend money as I choose to get fun things and make my experience even better?

    Yes please.

SWTOR is like the antithesis of the new F2P strategies and I hope it starts to decline. Hopefully they get smart and change the model at that point, instead of shutting the game down.

Not sure about Wildstar (not my visual cuppa) but Star Citizen will be my next MMO and Titan (if it turns out to be sci-fi).

I'll stay with TOR but if no sandbox elements are introduced there is only so much themepark I can stomach before I crave for some complex content that engages me fully. I completely enjoy TOR's raiding experience with my guild but again, that will only keep me so long.

My old friends from SWG are planning on going to TESO but I can afford to wait and see on that one (again, I prefer Sci-Fi),
