    making tea

the water starts to boil at 100*C but the tea should be brewed/watered at less than 90*C so it has the best taste.
how long after boiling the water to 100 it drops down to 90 ? is that 2 minutes ? or maybe 5 ?

Depends on many factors.....Room temperature, what your kettle is made out of, what altitude you live at etc..... There is no definate answer.

The correct way to make tea is pour and leave it to brew just as it boils.

Warm the teapot with boiling water. When you are ready to make the tea, pour the warm water out of the teapot, and add freshly boiled water to it. 1 teaspoon of tea-leaves per person. Allow it to brew for 3-7 minutes depending on the type of tea leaves you are using. Pour through a tea-strainer so that you don't get tea-leaves in your cup.

Or you can just boil a kettle, pour the water into the mug with a teabag in it, and leave it be for a few minutes.

It basically depends whether or not it is my Granny making the tea in the afternoon, or me making a quick mug of the elixir of life in the morning.

What makes you think you have the right?!!? :@
I just let it boil, give it a minute or 2 for the water to settle then pour the water in, give it a good stir, let it boil for little while then add my Milk, and done^^

You don't make the tea in the kettle though, or it will taste of whatever the heating plate in the kettle is made of (probably stainless steel).

Considering you can buy a cheap one for less than $10 there is no excuse not to have one, easiest way to boil water.

I heat the water in the microwave then stick the teabag in after a few seconds or else it explodes. The taste is no different it just means I don't need to get a kettle and it saves space in the kitchen.

There is a small tea room at the train station where I go to university that does it properly, and they have hundreds of kinds of tea to choose from.

Okay, so I'm just gong to call my mom (who is Scottish) and tell her my sin of how I make tea. She will straighten me out.
If she is Scottish, she will tell you to deep fry it.

Bring it to a boil, take it off the heat, and put the tea in it around one minute later.

That's how I do it during my morning routine.

Someone needs to make a poll on the best kind of tea. I'm drinking green tea at the moment but I like to mix it up a bit. I was talking to an Indian guy at the bridge table the other day and he recommended Darjeeling with a splash of milk, I tried it and it's very nice, nicer than those brand names you see on the shelves like Typhoo, Quick Brew etc. Earl Grey is also nice once in a while.
