Ex-boyfriend = biggest douche-bag ever
I'm trying to imagine what the guy yelled as he tossed the poor thing out the window.

Small animals, like kittens, have a relatively low terminal velocity. So, this is not surprising.
An elephant, on the other hand, hitting the ground at its terminal velocity would not just die, it would splash.

"The bit about hardcore players not always caring about the long term interests of the game is spot on." -- Ghostcrawler
"Do you want a game with no casuals so about 500 players?"
Anyone that could just try to kill a kitten should be throw into the Amazon jungle. If you can hurt a kitten, you are an inhuman beast unworthy of living in society. I mean really, how can you look at a kitten and just think "I'm gonna kill it"? Especially with the idiotic motivation of being sour about a break-up.

I thought the terminal velocity was the same for any object, regardless of weight. The reason the elephant would die would be because it cannot absorb the impact of the landing, it would collapse to its own weight.
Well... Let's not get too hasty here -
FUCK HIM THE DICK! I always feel that the way people treat animals shows there personality.
My brother for example, microwaved a hamster at age 7 (He was shouted at by a very large police officer, i wasn't there to *supervise him* as i was out with my mother shopping. And my grandmother who was supposed to be there, ended up going out drinking)
He's now quite violent, and short tempered - but also autistic, but he didn't show any remorse for it afterwards.
Terminal velocity varies by mass, shape, size, and orientation. It's the point where acceleration due to gravity is canceled by the deceleration due to drag (wind resistance). An elephant will fall wayyyyy faster (but also take longer too reach) at terminal velocity. A steel plate will have a lower terminal velocity than a steel spike of the same weight.

This is the one time I'll jump on the we should do bad to the bad guy. We should throw him out the window to see how well he lands! No body messes with kittens
I do understand, the police officer put on his file a record of animal abuse or w/e and recommended counseling - but ultimately my mother stopped making him attend after 2 sessions.
The clinic itself was more tooled to sexual assault victims of a young age, but i rarely talk with my brother or to a larger extent my family. There too bigoted towards 1, my sexuality. And 2, my choices in life...

If anything, he should have tossed from higher up. Don't ask how they got these results.
