    .Hack The World

Would you play it if they made it into a mmo but hold off until we get the virtual reality all set up? I know i would I'd pay whatever needed inorder to buy it

Could you please elaborate on what this is?

.Hack is a manga/anime I believe, he's asking if you'd be interesting in playing a .hack mmo game, if it had virtual reality. Or... Something. Not sure.

Personally, I wouldn't be all that interested. However I've never seen the show or read the manga.

im assuming you mean the .hack game series? in which case if virtual reality gets to the point where it is fully immersive then its a given that games will be very much like they are in .hack. in answer to the question though, hell yes i would play it

"The World" coming from the anime / game series .hack//. Essentially it's a VR MMO.
Maps are set up by a matching of 3 words obtained throughout the game and you can experiment and get different worlds, dungeons, and so on. By the idea of the game it's an open world / sand boxy type game.

    If it's made, hell yes.

If it was done right maybe I would. But I always found it amusing when playing the games that all of what they said in the mic's is what their Player character said and all the yelling that went on.

Would it be setup like the games? Or more like the anime? If it's like the anime I'd rather not go into a coma :P

Though now that you mention this makes me want to go back and play the PS2 games. Darn you!

I wish VR were more commonplace... I remember all kinds of VR related stuff popping up when I was a teenager and everyone thought it was going to be in everything in just a few years. Here we are over a decade later and 3D is still barely a thing.

You bet your ass I'd play a VR MMO along the lines of The World.

.hack, Sword Art Online, EverQuest 12, Virtual World of Warcraft

Whatever it was, if there was fully immersed virtual reality, you damn right I'd be there on Day 1.

Ready Player One is a wonderful imagining of how we would get there with haptic gloves, full body sensory suits, omni directional treadmill rooms, suspended chairs in VR rooms, etc. Even explanation for sensory 'addons' for smell, etc.

The main flaw in The Matrix trilogy is that the machines tried to recreate believable reality to force humans to live in as batteries. If they had made it an MMO, not only would humans volunteer to be batteries, we'd pay a monthly fee to do so!

With Kinect style technology, Occulus Rift, and Omni all in development, we're working on it.

A million times, yes. The .hack games were some of the most fun experiences I ever had on my PS2, and I always thought the idea of a fully immersive VR mmo would be awesome. Another cool form of it is used in Ready Player One (amazing book) that reminded me of how much I would love for it to happen. As long as it doesn't start putting people into comas or crash the economy, I'd be all for it!

Looks like Faroth beat me to the Ready Player One reference, LOVE THAT BOOK!

If you like anime at all, you'll probably enjoy Sword Art Online as well. At the very least, the first half (in the first MMO story arc)

So looking to Ready Player One movie, but that would have to be so expensive on the licensing rights alone....

No, I wouldn't. I liked the anime, but I can't stand the Japanese game style, nor the cutesy pastel artwork. It's just not for me. Shame, really; I know there's a lot of great stuff from Japan and Korea... But I can't stand it.

With more and more VR technology coming out stuff like this will soon become more common. At least the input and more traditional output. Stuff like simulating the feel of a physical objects resistance is still a ways off.
I got a chance to try a Oculus Rift and a Razer Hydra for a while and i have to say i was impressed. Products i have tried previously has not been close to as good as these. The oculus rift in particular impressed me. It responded very naturally and it weighed very little (and the last part is important for any session more than 20-30 mins). They seem to pretty easy to develop for as well, although i have only tried in Unity so far (and it was very easy there).
So, hopefully we will see many games for these types of products in the near future!

Yes! I've been a fan since I was a kid! The first game series on the Playstation 2 is still my favorite. The storyline was really well put together.

There was a .Hack MMORPG called .Hack//Fragment but it was not successful enough to be released in the United States. .Hack has lost its publicity and is struggling to get the funding to make games outside of small handheld consoles.

The games and the anime both involved the players going into a coma. .Hack//Sign started and then episode 25 or 26 where Skeith shows up and pretty much forces the servers to crash. Then .Hack//Infection for the Playstation 2 takes the stage and leads on to a new story. After or during the first game series they released .Hack//Sign episodes that were related to what's going on in the game. Like the celebration in Net Slum after defeating the last wave.

If they would just continue the games from where it left off or start a new story with fresh characters in the .hack universe then they would start to gain fans of the games back. Reason why its hardly known is because its been like what? 6 1/2 years since we've had a .hack game?

I thought the game did it too, but wasn't sure. So instead of looking like an idiot in case, I didn't mention it lol. But yea I need to replay through these games sometime now

depends, could we have some more classes? perhaps include some of the GU series classes?

because i would love to if i could be an adept rouge. though the game would have to be a bit less repetitive, the repeating stages annoyed me a bit in the games.
