    Crafting legendaries worth it?

Last few days I've been finding green plans. I've had not-so-good lucks with drops, so I'm still mostly yellows (with okay rolls) and a couple of legendaries that are also okay-ish. No class set items yet.

Is it worth to craft any of the sets like Asheara's and Born's? Google isn't very helpful -- mostly are threads about peopel complaining about what a pain it is to gather the materials. I have no issue with that, but am wondering on a scale of 1 - 5, with 1 being "don't even bother" and 5 being "gamebreaking, do it!", how would you rate the usefulness of the non-class legendaries?

Depends what you're playing, 4 of the more common ones players craft are:

-Aughilds, I wouldn't say it's mandatory but it's an extremely good toughness boost. Besides that, the 15% damage bonus to elites is really helpful when you're trying to climb up torments.
-Borns, Mostly wizards and some Crusaders that run with this for the CDR.
-Captain Crimson, Same reason as above.
-Asheara's, if you haven't found the aughilds recipe yet this is a good alternative. Nice toughness boost if you can get the 3 set.

Obviously you can have multiple bonuses from different sets depending on your gear with the Act 1 ring which is in most cases a good idea if you haven't found any class set items yet.

Personal point of view, get 2 pieces of aughild's. Combine with RoRG for max profit.

The bonuses are really really good for just 2 parts. 7% melee and range reduce, and the 15/15 elites.

    Just my two cents.

Ah, aughild's. I don't have that one yet, though I have the others you listed. Good to know they have some uses... given my luck, I should work on trying to get the mats for the others! No Ring of Act 1 yet though.

reapers wraps are great to use for pretty much any class.
devastator is awesome for fire builds. it seems to come with a socket so thats a big plus and % fire dmg
cains set is decent too, although the gloves can be really shit if they dont roll with crit chance/dmg.

It depends on the item. Think of it like this:
All legendary items (baseline) are the same. All shoulders has the same possible statrolls etc.
Some legendary items (such as Homing Pads) has a special legendary attribute, but apart from that, they will be exactly the same as say, Aughilds shoulders in terms of rolls. Aughilds special roll on the other hand, is 2/3 set bonuses.
It's important to note that the majority of the legendary item crafts do NOT have any special attributes, and are basicly just a base-legendary item with the highest possible stat-range rolls. For example, the cains gloves the person above me mentions are the exact same as asheara's, and the exact same as a pair of gladiator gauntlets (except gladiators has the secondary massacre-coin bonus).

A few items that has "unique" rolls that could be usefull, of the top of my head:
    Utar's roar (cold Dmg% wep).
Reaper wraps (resource regen secondary on globe).
    Devastator (fire Dmg% wep).
Fleeting Strap (rolls IAS, a stat not found on belts normally. Basicly half of a witching hour).

Sets, yes, very, especially if you have a RoRG. The most useful, in my opinion, is Aughild's followed by Captain Crimson's.

As for the other legendaries, meh, there are some that would be worth it, but most of them aren't that great. They'd only be useful for an alt that doesn't have something good in that slot already.

Imo, absolutely. It always depends on your class and build, obviously, but some of these items have really good set bonuses, and with the help of the RORG you can combine a lot of sets. My wizard has the Born, Captain, and Aughild set bonuses; the first two for the CDR and the third for the obvious damage and mitigation.

When RoS released, people kept saying that nobody should be crafting at that point. I disagreed; craftable legendaries, whether for sets of special affixes, have the most benefits when you are first gearing up and they can really improve your progression significantly.

The problem is, the items roll six random properties. So if you don't mind farming the mats, yeah, go nuts. But I've found mat farming to be incredibly annoying and non-productive, so I only craft items when I happen upon the materials. I don't feel like entering and leaving games over and over and over for no reason.

Mat farming is very simple if you have a main that can easily swoop through torment difficulties. Getting decent pieces of certain set parts should never be a problem.

Don't do the same mistake as i did with the crafts, i didn't play diablo 1-2 and in vanilla i just bought few billion gold and gear up my character so i had 0 experience with how is item progression in diablo, Aughild/Captain is extremely powerful combo if you have the recipe do it you will get a big boost in def/dmg, item progression in diablo is different then wow for example chance for you to get BiS if you don't play 10 hours/day will be very very slow, i have 100hours on my Crusader and i don't have any class item set for example, the moment i craft Aughild/captain combo i jump from t1 to t3 the set is very powerful

Use that link to grind ur mats. Some bounties also exist that aren't even listed in the guide yet. Look for bounties with key npc names in them.

Particularly since you can and should farm them in groups. Just make sure you can do bounties in at least T1; anything below and the drop rates fall drastically. The higher the better but it is worth pushing yourself a notch, like for T3-4, in which the drop rates are between ~30-40%. Also make sure you are checking for all the bounties for what you want to farm, and it doesn't hurt to check the bounties of several craftables.

E.g. last time I was farming, I checked the bounties of Born, Aughild, Ashera, and Captain, as well as the bounties for a couple of different weapons. Usually, at least one of your target bounties will spawn.

It is also useful to check youtube for guides, as there are ways to farm certain pieces quite easily, though less so after the nerf to uniques. Another reason why we can hate on the chest farmers.

Aughilds and captains are the best to craft.

As a Wizard anyway I would always use the sets atm for many spec's. 50% CDR (or more) is nice.

as a demon hunter what sets would you recomend im curently using 2/5 natalia set i have many set crafting recipies, i usualy solo farm for mats in t, gona try t2 grop farm for legendery mats later.

Must cope with the Aughild - the bonus toughness gained is so high that lets me go up at least a torment level, probably two (and i'm speaking about t3 to t5 transition).

You need to plan a little what you intend to get so with the RogR you can get as much bonuses as possible - Aughild fortunately requires only 2 pieces to get full advantage so it can be added to pretty much any set of gear.

RoRG is Ring of Royal Grandeur. You get it from doing act 1 bounties. Recipies are all random drops from any monsters.

now i get why im seeing "lfm act 1 bounties" i thought that was strange

RogR is actually the only true mandatory piece of gear if you want to pass a certain treshold - it simply lets you to stack more sets bonuses which are more powerful than any other piece of gear in many cases.
