Look at the comments lol.
F2P and B2P, is garbage for MMOs.
Wildstar is a 'step back' in MMOs, which is exactly what they need IMO.
Is it worthy? I don't know.
But, that's the proper philosophy, to save this genre.
Some devs think highly of themselves. Do WoW "right" - I'm sure. Hindsight is a lovely tool, but the world has changed since 2005.
Honestly, anyone who tries to intentionally copy WoW is gonna fail.
What a load of poop, both swtor and rift hoped people would consider them wow clones, rift even mentioned wow in its cinematic trailer >.<The difference here is, to be fair imo, that Wildstar isn't ashamed to admit it's trying to be a wow clone. This game appeals to me in a way BECAUSE it's trying to be wow pre-wotlk. That is the difference, at least imo, between a WoW clone like Wildstar and a WoW clone like SWToR or Rift. This one isn't trying to BS you, it's just trying to be WoW from the good days (pre-pandafication).
Aaaaaand with that, they have steped on a point of no return. They better be so sure they will deliver and be bigger than Warcraft, because if not, people usually don't forget these kinds of statements.
The general consensus from what I've heard is everything before level 20 is god-awful boring if you're used to playing MMOs. But after 20 and at max level it ramps up significantly.
So they are going with design that WoW used about seven years ago, while it slowly drifted away from the 1% design?
Good luck.
Active WoW player Jan 2006 - Aug 2020
Occasional WoW Classic Andy since.
Nothing lasts forever, as they say.
But at least I can casually play Classic and remember when MMORPGs were good.
That quote is from 2005 from ex WoW developers. It offers much more than WoW has in the last 6 years or so. They're not trying to copy WoW because it feels completely different than WoW. If anything it is a step above and you better believe Blizz will be trying to copy elements of Wildstar like they always do in order to adapt. I don't think they will be able to adapt to this one.
Gambling big. They just opened themselves up to critics and players comparing them to WoW. Let's hope they give Blizzard a decent run for its money, so Blizz steps up their game as well.
This. It's no time for 40 man raid, sure someone here will disagree with me but remember that those who want it.. Are like 0.5% of the community. This guys are developing a world of warcraft in vanilla times... This won't work now, they forget that they're trying to hit a very very small audience and casual players who are the active MMO marketing won't be interested in grinding this much and to accommodate their life to raid shecdule and 40 man madness.
There's a reason WOW is successful with both hardcore & casuals. The only unhappy times are the times between expansions.
Personally played Wildstar and optimization was horrible, game didn't run well in my 3 gaming machines. Plus no offense, but it's too much of a grinding game... I'm not the same person that I was 9 years ago, who had free time all day to play the game so I could reach end game...
So you guy are still wondering why flying is removed and LFR is not giving raid tier?
Here we go. You got your answer. Activision is affraid of Wildstar and it's old school wow devs.
See you in Nexus
Do wow right? It certainly is a step back to classic in a lot of ways, and that isn't a good thing.
i liked the devspeak video on that page, and it will be interesting to see how Wildstar goes, but i think they may be over saturating the marketplace with these types of videos and promotion
Hi
