Please Blizz get rid of the valor cap!

Please Blizz get rid of the valor cap!

I cant tell you how infuriating the valor cap is for a progression raider like me who is in a casual guild.

Its likes 1 step forward and 2 steps back

Each piece of gear that drops which i consider a upgrade because of stats is worse because i have to wait a whole week to upgrade it to a where its better than what i got.

I do this every week and because of the stupid valor cap it seems my guild can never get BIS slot because it drags us back because we cant upgrade it quick enough.

I got so many pieces that would help so much if i could upgrade but because of the stupid valor cap it would take me months to get my gear up to help down progression bosses.

Now please dont flame like i said im in a casual progression guild and it would help out so much if they removed that stupid cap or just nerf the fucking thing!

I agree that at this stage of the expansion, the valor cap of 1000 per week is just nonsense. At least bump it up a notch to 2000 or remove all together.

    The Problem with VP

Here's the problem with the VP cap: Min/Maxers.

If there was no VP cap, then min/maxers would feel obligated to grind as much VP as possible every week. Now I know what you're thinking, a) I'm not a min/maxer so that shouldn't affect me and b) min/maxers are done with progression so who cares?

Well there's a trickle effect of the VP cap specifically towards the VP upgrade system. Basically, the more VP you can gain per week and therefore can upgrade your gear that much faster means that groups looking to PuG content will steadily increase their "min ilv" requirements. Normally that's not an issue for mains who have been playing for a while, but for new players or players on alts this can be a significant hurdle when Flex groups all want 530+ ilv or Normals want 550+ ilv. (To be fair, LFR gear fully upgraded without leg. cloak gives you an iLv of 544 and Flex gear fully upgraded without leg. cloak gives you an iLv of 556)

Honestly the best answer is the removal of the vp upgrade system that we'll see in WoD. At that point VP cap won't be an issue anymore.

While I liked the 4/4 upgrades for my main for my alts that are still progressing I hate it.

The idea of starting heroics on any of them... if I were to replace every piece it would take 4 months of 1k capping to fully upgrade it all. And then that doesn't take into account upgrading a normal piece and then maybe finding a warforged/better suited piece later.
Atm I'm having to seriously consider upgrading a new item i get because maybe i'll pick up something better next week and then i've wasted an entire weeks valor.

They should remove it entirely or at the very least bump the cap up to 2k or cheapen the cost of upgrades.

Valor is going away on the upcoming expansion since tokens for winning gear will take over. Enjoy it before its gone

You know upgrades (particularly the 3/4 and 4/4 ones) are optional and only intended to help those who have stalled in SoO progression, right? You literally don't need upgrades at all-- every raid boss in the game right now has been done without. Just be thankful that if you do get 1-2 awesome pieces of armor, you can upgrade them then.

Also, you can save 3k up so that you can fully upgrade up to 3 of your best pieces.

While I agree that they should bump it up to 2k a week, this whining is why we can't have nice things. Blizz gives us something nice and someone always bitches about it.

I don't agree with getting rid of the cap totally, but it should probably be raised (both the total and the weekly). I wouldn't mind seeing a 4k total cap, and a 2k weekly, or maybe no weekly cap at all.

Shouldnt the op post that in the official forums? It's highly questionable if blizzard employees read this forums.

This isn't an official Blizzard forum kiddo, try posting over there. Though they won't remove the cap so, you'd just waste your time really.

"Blizzard please remove the valor cap so I can finish the content faster and unsub quicker."

Need more reason why they won't do it?

Reason for daily, weekly caps is so that you don't get geared in a couple of days and stop paying for their subscription.

No don't get rid of the cap,

Get rid of the cap at the end of every expansion!

Wouldn't a higher cap also increase the pressure/burden on people that are still progressing? And what's with all those altoholics? They'd have to do twice as many runs (dungeon, scenario, raids, dailies, whatever) to cap. I finished my maingear this week and still have 16 more slots to go for my second gear, that's two more month of paying my subscription and filling lfr/scenario/dungeons and keep the ball rolling, if they'd change that the big hole before 6.0 would just be even bigger, wouldn't it?

Yeah I agree with OP, it's a nightmare. I recently had to switch my main from a paladin to a hunter, you can't even begin to comprehend how such a nightmare it is, every damn heroic piece I get instantly creates a sensation of vomit for me. I actually started to get scared that a WF version of that item hopefully does NOT drop (in case it does, boom another 1000VP will be needed, vomit instantly).

Blizz has a cap for this reason, because they know a vocal minority of the players cannot control themselves at all and if Blizz didn't babysit them with a valor cap, these players would play non-stop, burn themselves out, and then yell and scream and Blizz that it is Blizz's fault that it happened.

That's the problem, its the end of the xpac and blizzard dont want to give players a few "quality of life" changes just for right now, its the minimum the can do if theyre not gonna give us a patch 5.5 as promised.

I mean, more and more of my guildmates and friends are quitting the game until WoD because THERE'S NOTHING TO DO IN THE GAME other than afk in the shrine.

They never will. It's a pathetic and cynical way to keep people playing. Hilarious, back in TBC after the initial badge of justice changes, you could farm pretty much to your heart's content. Well, I guess you were gated clearing every single heroic in a single day. Then later on you could splurge even further with a quick Kara clear. The valor cap is simply awful design and I've always hated it. They should have some pride in their product instead of feeling the need to gate with a currency.

Wheres the player skill in this equation? You don't need HC WF BiS to kill later bosses. I've killed Garrosh HC with normal tier pieces and a flex trink. One of our healers had lfr rings. Maybe place a bit more emphasis on whats in your own hands and thats player skill / class knowledge instead of crying that you can't have an all-you-can-eat binge at the gear upgrader.
