What do you Miss and Not Miss about old wow?

When I say old wow I mean 3.3.5 and before, any time before patch 4.0 .

What I don't miss: 1.)1000 gold cost for duel talent spec. This just made no sense now it costs what 10 gold? At one point it costed 100 gold i think and I was fine with that but 1000 is too much.

2.)Poison crafting and lock picking , especially the latter. Poisons and LP should of always been an auto leveled skill when you level up I dont miss actually working on those class skills. Some people do Im not one of them, heres how poison crafting could of been a better experience: Auto leveled skill, No poison ranks the effect/potency/dps is just increased based on your attack power and skill level just like how it is today. Unique poisons unlocked by talents and quest chains. Gathering poison ingredients, instead of just buying them from a vendor which doesn't add interesting gameplay they should of had us go out into the word to collect the materials. The plant materials would be scattered all over Azeroth and only obtainable by rogues, looting one node should have a high yield, higher than gathering for herbalism with a chance to get a rare ingredient that increases poison's effect/potency/dps ever so slightly. The materials needed for all poisons for 1-60 are only found on azeroth, poisons for 60-70 only in outland and so on.

Not sure how LP could of been better than it is now just an auto leveled skill available only to rogues. I just think the Lockpicking glyph should be a baseline passive and there should be more use of it in raids and not only to open chests but secret doors, plus there should be a greater chance to find good loot from chests for rogues.

3.) Rng stuns, mace stuns. Not a really fun mechanic on the receiving end I am really surprised blizzard introduced Paralytic poison as a rogue talent this expansion[mists of pandaria]

4.) 10 second Fears and Saps on players. Also really not fun on the receiving end, I personally think all crowd control effects that break with long durations should only be 6 seconds and the longest a stun should be now should be 4 seconds.

5.)Bad rewards and no rewards for your class from low level quests. Quests use to award sometimes no gear option for your class and a lot of white gear with no stats. This made leveling really difficult especially when playing classes that had no healing like rogues and playing without heirlooms.

6.) Paying for Skill Ranks. Maybe paying for new skills wasn't so bad but you use to have to pay for every rank, I dont really miss paying for skills at all but now trainers serve almost no purpose.

    7.) Atunement Quests

    What I do Miss:

1.) The old style talent system. The new system is quite simple, bare and resembles casual multiplayer games. It is very anti Rpg in my opinion. This is the biggest reason and i know i will get and do get a lot of flak for this belief, this is the biggest reason that I no longer play, no longer look forward to creating new characters and leveling and reason I believe the game is just less in quality than it use to be.

2.) Elite Quests. There use to be far more quests that required you to group to complete because you were facing elites, you were also missing too many talents, and did not have excellent gear most likely so you needed a full or near full group to even think about attempting it. These quests and their associated bad guys gave the world a sense of danger, taught you to be careful and encouraged grouping.

3.) Grouping without group finder, was a perfect system? Hell no unbalanced pop servers, low pop servers suffered as did any player with limited time or those that played during off peak hours.

How it could of been a better experience without killing the community: NPCs that fill missing roles, Heroics that do not require a full group similar to heroic scenarios we have today. Being able to invite battle net friends from other serves. We have this today it should of been implemented a long time ago.

4.) More unique classes and specs. Its argued that the more unique classes and specs are though the more unbalanced the game is. Up for debate. To me the only classes that have seen positive evolution over the years are mages, locks and hybrids. The rest kind of feel left out ( warriors, rogues, Hunters)

5.) NO Heirloom Gear. THis gear popped up as early as wrath. There always rich players and connected players or fortunate players to have rares that augmented their character to god status early on, but rares dont level with you and many were not as strong as todays peach colored gear.

If you don't have heirlooms its impossible to participate in Low lv bgs and leveling is significantly more tedious. I think it creates a wide gap between veteran players and new players that doesnt need to be there and it makes dungeon grinding too easy.

    - - - Updated - - -

im more interested in what you miss and do not miss and far less interested in being criticized for my opinions and debating whether or not they are wrong.

Leveling curve and how filled it was with extra stuff, making it feel like actual part of game rather than something to skip ASAP.

Don't miss stance dancing and have macros for almost every ability as a warrior. I do miss... sword/mace spec, don't want it back though.

Edit: Windfury totem with sword spec and Stormherald with stun spec for extra broken

I miss vanilla's way of getting pvp titles.

What do I miss about old wow? The zones and quests. They were so much better than the crap we were given for Cataclysm. Sure, the rewards are better now, both item and money. But that's the only improvement.

Potions. Health and mana potions were relevant, and could be used more than once per combat. I dont miss them stacking to 5, though.

Class quests. Druid form quests, shaman totem quests, class mount quests, warlock demon quests.

Speaking of totems... The shaman totems. I miss how they were, though not being fully raid-wide sucked.

Buffs. Priest fort/spirit buffs, paladin auras (which don't even exist anymore, really), different paladin buffs, mark of the wild + blessing of kings didn't cancel out each other (could have both, not just 1), etc.

All crafting professions worth a damn, and being able to craft raid-quality gear for all gear slots, not just 2 slots (usually pants and belt ot boots).

But I forsee lots of troll posts saying the game is 100% better now than it was, classic sucked, and all the other typical responses. Especially the nostalgia/rose-tinted goggles tripe.

Everything beeing Server intern. No crossrealm, LFG/LFD/LFR. The community was much better with almost balanced server populations. If someone misbehaved, ninjalooted and so on, the whole server ( at least your faction ) knew it and behaved accordingly. Whole guilds helping each other out with Materials, Players, intel on Boss Mechanics and and and ...

Thats the biggest point why Vanilla and BC are in so many Heads the best times of WoW

I miss wall climbing. I miss when the flag wouldn't reset in WSG. I'd take the flag, climb the side of the mountain until I was at the top and leave it up there. Very rarely were there other wall climbers that could get it, so i'd laugh as WSG's lasted 5+ hours until a GM came and reset it.

i miss the game being new. it had a certain wonder and majesty to it then. it was awesome not knowing the entire map of azeroth like the back of my hand and stumbling across things.

i also kinda miss the pre cataclysm 1-60 zones. know ill catch flak for this but i miss no flying too. i like flying for sure but there was just something about having to walk places and getting up to places you know you werent supposed to be. i used to wall climb up all kinds of crap.

I miss long max level quest chains that took you all over the place. Now I get why people didn't like attunements for being a gate that kept you out of raiding, but I really liked them as quest chains. They gave a much better sense of adventure than the "go to that little area and do stuff" quests we get while levelling.
I don't think this matters nearly as much as you think it does.

I miss buff coordination and each class having their own role in the raid. It was fun putting together 25-man groups in the correct order so that everyone was maximized on buffs. It felt like a mini-game within the game, where the first step to a successful raid was putting together a proper group. Sadly, ten mans and "bring the player" destroyed any possible future for having this and having niche roles for healers. Remember back when Pallies were tank heals, Shaman were raid heals, Druid were insta-heals and Priests were Utility heals? Was a lot more fun feeling like you had a role as a healer rather than just every healer healing everybody like we have nowadays.

I miss leveling my lockpicking and poisoncrafting on my rogue. Honestly though, that's about it.

I miss weapon crafting the most. I loved how many amazing weapons there were. I remember scouring the AH and killing various mobs in hopes of getting certain plans. I miss how it was broken down into certain sections. Maces, Axes and Swords. Now it's all very generic stuff.

I miss the social aspects of the game, you had to talk to people, strangers and friends alike. You could spend hours after dark drinking virtual booze in a tavern having fun with strangers, talking and spreading myths about your adventures and loot, (sites like wowhead did not exist back then). Betting silver on who would win a nude duel or things like that.

The community has only changed because as time has gone on, more people expect others to know what they're doing right away. Back then the game was new to everyone, so people would band together to try and help each other and figure things out. That's my view anyways.

    What I miss from vanilla.
1.Popping BW and letting my pet solo clothies not fair I know but funny at the time.
2.While leveling or questing at night it was easy to aggro all kinds of things and die.
    3. Wind fury with my shamans 2 hander good times.
4.everything about the old of Alterac valley
    Don't miss from vanilla
1.spending 30 minutes or more forming a five man group, another 15 minutes getting to the dungeon getting just a few pulls in and somebody has to leave.
    2.getting one shot from a shaman with a two-hander
3.getting soloed by a hunter's pet under the effects of BW
    4. 40 man raids
    5.ammo bags and reagents
    What I miss from BC
    1. sword spec with a wind fury totem in my group pvping.

    Do miss:

    - Class-specific things. Paladin/Warlock mounts, Warrior Cyclonian/Fallen Hero quests, etc. Those were cool.
    - Elite/group quests. It sucked when you couldn't find other people to do them with you, but they were a lot of fun.
    - 30-minute cooldowns.
    - Being able to stack things like potions and scrolls (instead of the "you can have one battle elixir and one guardian elixir" crap).
    - Sharpening stones and weightstones.
    - Southshore before it became a toxic waste dump.
    - Long dungeons like BRD, Dire Maul, and Maraudon that had multiple wings and optional stuff.
    - Super long quest chains. Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops, the chain to upgrade your dungeon set, etc.
    - Joining battlegrounds and seeing names I recognize on both sides.
    - Dungeon gear sets.

    - The fact that gear upgrades in lowbie dungeons meant something. A lowbie mage would've been really excited about getting the Emberstone Staff in Deadmines in the old game. Now it's just vendor trash, because that mage has an heirloom staff.

    - Old AV. I liked the epic 4+ hour slugfests where both sides actually used their NPCs and did quests. It's just a zerg to cap towers and kill the enemy general now.

    Don't miss:

    - Having to stand in major cities and spam "LFM FOR BRD" for 45 minutes to get a group, then waiting 20 more minutes because our healer couldn't find the instance. Then running the instance for 5 minutes and getting "OMG GUYS WE TOOK TOO LONG I HAVE TO LEAVE ITS A SCHOOL NIGHT AND MY MOM SAYS I HAVE TO BE IN BED IN LIEK 5 MINUTES!!!!" from our tank.

    - Forced roles (getting laughed out of dungeon groups without even being given a chance because I wanted to DPS as a warrior).
    - Ninja looters (the game hasn't completely eliminated it, but it's MUCH better now than it was in the old game).
    - Stance restrictions on warriors (although it appears that this will be coming back in WoD, sadly).
    - 40-man raids.
    - Having to hand out Healthstones one at a time as a Warlock.
    - 5-minute buffs that ran out in the middle of boss fights.
    - Quests that glitched out all the time (still happens sometimes, but it was a lot worse in the old game).
    - The days before dual spec when you had only one spec and had to visit a class trainer to change it.

    - Having to either take stupid flight paths or hoof it on the ground and take 10 minutes to get from point A to point B. "Oh well, time to go AFK and take a shit while I'm in flight." Yay immersion!
