    A Magistrate is a senior and respected member of the community that deals with petty cases that real judges cannot be arsed with, things like vandalism or shoplifting. They have trained Lawyers there to give them legal advice and the Magistrates only job is to decide if they did it or not and give them a small sentence, if the offence turns out to be more serious it is turned over to the Crown court where things are a lot more serious.

    yeah for some reason. some of that stuff is important to know, other parts not so much, and most people here would have no clue on the answer. If you ask most people in the UK who Richard Awkright was, you're probably going to get some blank stares.
