Sorry, have you logged out in the gear you PvP with?

Why on earth have you bought practically all gear except the item that matters most, your weapon?

Like all your abilities scale off your weapon damage, the difference between upgrading a bit of armour and your weapon is colossal, especially as a Warrior.

I'd say that's the first thing.

Really? I thought I should have the armor first. But I'm gonna have to focus on getting a weapon then. Thanks for the tip.

Also thanks for posting my armory link lol

The only criticism I can give you talents-wise is to use Glyph of Mortal Strike, Glyph of Rude Interruption and Glyph of Bull Rush.

Besides that, you don't seem to have actually queued arena yet on your warrior. Get your weapon and find any healer and queue up for arena. Reason why I suggest playing with a healer is because it's by far the easiest way to improve as a player due to dps/healer being much more forgivable compared to double DPS. Not only that, the only viable double DPS comp for warriors in 2s is Feral/Warrior which basically acts as a DPS/healer comp anyways.

Once you're ready and found a partner, these are the key points you want to improve upon and strive for:

*Focus targetting and focus CCing - It's important to have a focus target up 99.99% of the time because it gives you more information about the enemy team. It's also used in combination with /use [@focus](ability) macros.

*Positioning - It's important to learn positioning early on IMHO. As a melee, you don't really get much of a say in your own positioning because the enemy team will very often decide that for you. That's all the more reason for your positioning to be precise at key moments when the enemy is near a pillar and your healer wants to heal you. You want to basically peak out and position yourself at the corner of a pillar for easier healing for your healer.

*Situational awareness - This is also important to actively think about and improve upon. Tunneling the enemy healer and using your own CDs to survive will only get you so far (actually pretty far, but it won't make you a better player). What will get you further is knowing when to use CDs and when not to as well as when to hide behind a pillar. I'd also consider knowing when to stun and interrupt as situational awareness. Basically don't waste your interrupt if the enemy healer is at 100% hp with every buff in the game on him. You won't be able to get him low enough. Most often holding your interrupts/using your stuns after your enemy has faked a few times will net you the most pressure possible.

*Arena 123 targetting/focusing - It's important to work on this early on as it will only get harder to learn later on when you're playing to win, rather than playing to learn. Targetting your enemies through arena123 keybinds (you can bind them in the Keybinding interface under Targetting) is the quickest possible way to target someone. Be sure to look at your arena frames occasionally as to memorize which target is which arena number.

Last but not least: PLAY TO LEARN.

It's very important to play to learn if you want to become a better player. Playing to win is fine, but if you truly want to become a better player, play to learn. Winning will come automatically as you learn.

I suggest investing time in learning important stuff about other classes.

Proper addons can make huge difference also.

Very important to learn micro/macro gameplay. Learning your class is the skill floor, then you move to comp vs comp tactics.

Im by no means a good player, but i feel like i improve alot by just leveling a class or spec i have no clue about and actually doing some pvp on it.

I've only queued up for casual 2s and 3s because I don't feel I'm good enough to go rated yet. I need to got gud

Very helpful post Ermahgerd. I'm going to have to do just that. Also, when would be a good time to trinket?

When you can get a kill or when you'd be dead if you don't. Good examples are killing a druid or his partner and trinketing an unavoidable clone. Or when a rogue uses his cds + kidneys you into a smokebomb. You want to trinket that to leap out of it so your healer can catch you.

It's very situational. But those two situations are pretty much bottom line.

Hm okay, I see what you mean. Sometimes I feel like I trinket too early and I get punished hard for it.

I'm still not really knowledgeable on CC, is storm bolt my only source of a CC?

What are some things I should be using to get the most out of CC?

I have arena targeting set to ny mouse scroll, hoping it could make a difference, I think it helps but I have to practice more I think.

How long did it take you guys to get good?

Stormbolt, Piercing Howl, Hamstring and Intimidating Shout are your forms of CC. Plus you get a short root on charge.

To help you partner you have Intervene/Safeguard, Rallying Cry. You can use your CC to help your partner as well, Charge->Hamstring can already create a gap for your partner to get away.

To defend yourself you have Shield Wall, Shield Barrier, Rallying Cry, Die by the Sword, Defensive Stance, Enraged Regeneration (Great when paired with Rallying Cry for even more healing) and Bladestorm if you're rooted and need to get out.

I'll throw out an example, say if I did a random casual 2s and m y opponent is a lock and rogue, my teammate would say "go lock. Cc rogue" does that mean I should keep lock on a focus bar and just stun/slow/fear roguewhile I'm focusing my hard hits on the lock? or should I keep rogue on focus and deal with the lock? This is pretty new to me, still don't know who to target first In other teams.

    I'll use something like this
I use my Toolbar 1 - 3 with the same keybind ability, except for button 5,6,7

    macro 1 : ( I put it on my first toolbar, let's just say button 5 )
    #showtooltips
    /cast [@arena1, harm, nodead] [] Stormbolt

    macro 2 : ( I put it on my second toolbar, let's just say button 5 )
    #showtooltips
    /cast [@arena2, harm, nodead] [] Stormbolt

    macro 3 : ( I put it on my third toolbar, let's just say button 5 )
    #showtooltips
    /cast [@arena3, harm, nodead] [] Stormbolt

What it do is only cast stormbolt to target enemy arena 1 or arena 2 or arena 3 or your current target if it's dead.
I usually set my focus to my teammate ( for intervene or other macro )

Let's say if the Lock is arena1 and rogue is arena2, then I just shift+2 to use my second toolbar which contain CC for arena2. Use keybind 5 whenever you wanna Stormbolt the rogue.

Others probably have better macro or systems.

As an Arms warrior, you have pretty much no sustain. You will lose to anyone who knows what they're doing in a 1v1, but by-God with a healer you'll do damage.

Hmm okay I was in an ashran group for a little while I was able to get more pieces. I got a weapon from a strongbox and had about 4k honor to spend. I also had 2250 CP. I bought a primal gladiators helm. Hopefully this new addition to my gear will keep me alive a bit longer in arenas

  16. #16
for starters, you're going to have to go thru the rigors of practice practice practice and understanding all the specs of each class, and understanding what abilities they have and when/why/if they are going to use depending on your situation/comp/environment

  17. #17
I figure I'm going to have to start that eventually. I'm just going to need to find myself a teammate or two

1 thing alot of warriors do that hurts them is blowing all CDs at once. It's best to learn management. Also, duel people/ go out in the world n pick a fight, if it turns into a 2v1 against you see how long you can survive. Read skill-capped.com. if you do 3s get a surv hunter n mw monk. 2s get a mw, resto druid, feral ,ret or frost dk. Also changing glyphs n talwnts before the arena match can be a factor wether you win or lose.

How important is switching glyphs and talents? How do I know when to change them?

    - - - Updated - - -

Just curious, how good is skill- capped? does it really help you improve? Just wanna know before I purchase a sub

Talent and glyph swapping is pretty worthwhile in arena's. For instance 'Rude Interruption' and 'Mass Spell Reflection' may be good versus caster teams.
