How many major lore "bad guys" are left (assuming no AU timelines)

TL;DR: What Major established threats haven't been seen or 'taken care of' in our timeline Azeroth?

Trying to see how many bad guys are left in our reality (ignoring any AU stuff)
To see where they can take the story next. I know Warcraft has no end, but from the original stories and RTS's it would be cool to know what established threats still exist that haven't been taken care of or even seen in World of Warcraft.

All I know is Demons/oldgods and well thats it really.

Honestly, only a few. The ones off the top of my head are Azshara, N'Zoth, the unnamed fifth Old God, Kil'Jaeden (he didn't die in Sunwell, merely a set back), and Sargeras. Now, obviously they may make a good guy bad similar to Garrosh, but as far as I know, they're the only MAIN villians left.

Well we have all the Old Gods (they are not really dead so they can all come back sooner or later) but yeah, they are the only main villians left, there are still other possible villains (Outland old gods), Malganis and his brothers, Maiev is also running around, Hakkar could also appear once more, Kelthuzad is still missing, etc...

There are still many more villains that could be used, so these's not really a problem

    N'zoth
    Corrupted Neptulon the Tidehunter
    un-named old god
Titans (if they are going to destroy us)
    Queen azshara
    KJ
    Sargeras
    Murozond
    Tichondrius (all the Nathrezim)
    (maybe) Bolvar
    (maybe) Sylvanas
    (maybe) the arakkoa old god
    (maybe) Jaina
    (maybe) the underground spider kingdom
(maybe) the shadow realm (the spirit world)

    There is still alot left.
And the Legion is so big that they can keep spawning characters since there are planets under the Legions control so there should be alot of powerfull demons.

Well the 2 bolded are not really villains, also we don't even know if we are going to end up fighting a corrupted Neptulon, we may fight a empowered Azshara (she should be extremely powerfull right now, i mean... she have the power over the seas)

Are there any big bad guys that could give us a 3 expansion build up like the LichKing did?

Let us not forget Magetha Grimtotem. And you never know. Maybe Sylvanas, Jaina or Moira could become surprise boss baddies.

Yeah, not that many real villains left.

    - Kil'jaeden
    - Azshara
    - Tichondrius
    - Sargeras

I think that's really about it. Anyone else is just a speed-bump; those are the only three with established Lore. And honestly, Tichondrius would be a hard sell for carrying his own expansion (even if he was joined by the other Dreadlords).

There was no mention of him during BC afaicr, so azshara is similar to LK. They could expand the story and make Bolvar the new LK.

Lich king had a 3 expansion build up? He wasn't mentioned once in TBC and he was only really talked about in Naxx in vanilla. If you only count WoW n'zoth has had more build up than him.

N'zoth, the 5th old god, sargaras, more titan stuff (i'm sure we'll get another algalon situation at some point), kil'jaeden, azshara. Lots of ways left for them to go. But they're likely to have to start using some of the big bad guys like sargeras and kiljaeden soon unless they pull another WoD out of their ass.

Err... vanilla/TBC had nothing in common with LK besides original Plaguelands.

It's dumb to think WC3:TFT is the pinnacle of whole Warcraft franchise and the gospel of things to come. The story is going on without LK, has been for years now.

Besides the obvious ones people have mentioned (Old Gods, Azshara & Burning Legion leaders) there're still many potential villains in WarCraft.

For example, Jaina, Wrathion, King Rastakhan, Nozdormu, Sylvanas, even Turalyon & Alleria can end up being evil if Blizzard want them to.

    i guess the nagas.

in warcraft 3: the frozen throne, they came from the see to help illidan. lady vashj was commanding but she follow the order of queen azshara.
there is quite a bit of lore about queen azshara, but we haven't seen her much, nor the naga underworld.

The titans, obviously. one can imagine a return of sargeras

and i don't know if illidan is dead or captive of maiev. but i doubt illidan is a villain now.

Blizzard can also create some more lore, about trolls for example. they are a very ancient race, like the night elf. I think they even have a common ancestor.

In BC it was hinted that the infinite flight (the black dragons in the Tanaris HCs) were actualy corrupted bronze flight and Noz did go 'crazy'.

It was proven true in the End Time dungeon in patch 4.3 (Murozond is Nozdormu).

That's all there ever has been, outside of the human/orc conflict - without the Legion and the Old Gods, Azeroth is just another planet where war and politics and natural disaster are the only noteworthy events, kind of like our planetary bubble we have in real life - all of our concerns on our planet are ones that we create, or are naturally created, like the flooding in Texas.

Cata, MoP and WoD are clean up stories now that the major story of the Warcraft universe is wrapped up with Arthas' fall. We're sightseeing Azeroth history and lore, basically, and we'll do that until they bring out the last chapter that ties up all the loose strings with Sargeras and the Old Gods - and don't be surprised if we never fight either, and the story is the Titans come back and use their technology to seal off Azeroth from attack and invasion from outside and within. Or the game just dies out and is never finished.

It's kind of like a sequel to The Lord Of The Rings. Once Sauron is dead and the elves leave, and it's the Age Of Men, there's no big epic story to tell anymore, it's just politics and Game of Thrones type stories left to tell.
