Cleaning up the World of Warcraft UI

Since blizzard keeps adding more and more crap to the user interface, it has now come to a point where I'm being spammed on a daily basis whenever I log into WoW. I have always felt like this is a problem, but I haven't had the time to do anything about it. I quite simply do not want to deal with it anymore, so I'm going to do something about it.

N.B: I'm looking for a permanent solution to completely remove and disable these things below.

    1. Quest tracking and objectives that appears on the far right side. Image.
    This has been solved.

    2. The tooltips info box appears in the lower right corner when you point on something. Image.

    3. The button that displays party members in a raid or a dungeon. Image.
    This has been solved.

    4. The floating XP text that appears all over the screen when killing mobs.

    5. The extra boss frame in the lower right corner that sometimes appears in a dungeon or a raid.
    This has been solved.

    6. The macro name boxes that appears when pointing the mouse on a macro in the action bar.

    7. The mini actionbar that displays seals, pet abilities and the likes. I don't need it as I have my abilities assigned to macros.

    8. The macro names that appears on the macro icons in the action bar.

    9. The blizzard ticket icon that appears in the top right corner when there is a ticket response. Image.

    10. The minimap button in the top right corner of the screen.
    This has been solved.

    11. The infobox with location name in the top right corner of the screen, right next to the minimap button.
    This has been solved.

    12. The social tab button in the lower left corner on top of the chatbox.

    13. The button with additional filters that appears in the combat log.

    14. Disable the option that makes messages disappear in the chat box.

I will continue to update this thread if I come to think of anything else. I hope you guys could help me out.

If you press the default keybinding of Alt+Z in-game, all that stuff goes away.

  3. #3
MoveAnything will also let you hide frames.

    Use
    Code:
    /fstack
to figure out the name of the frame then use
    Code:
    /hide frameName
    to hide it

Been a while since I used the default objectives tracker, but isn't there the ability to collapse it ?
Otherwise there are replacement addons which offer brokers, or possibly keybinds to toggle it on/off.

Turning off tooltips entirely is rather silly.
Look instead for more control over it, such as position/appearance and perhaps turning off during combat.

The default floating combat text can be turned off in the options.

Boss frames can have their use for monitoring, but any decent uniframe addon allows you to change the visibility of specific frames.

Many action bar addons allow you to change the visibility of various bars.
    Bartender, Dominos etc.

    1. Click the little arrow next to it to hide it?

    2. Probably possible with an addon, don't know of one though. Don't see the reason why you would want that gone.

    3. Interface??

    4. See 2.

    5. Pretty freakin' sure that's DBM that bugs.

    6. Bartender.

    7. Bartender.

I could have sworn this thread had several replies already. Am I imagining things here? lol

Get the addon move anything to hide or move anything you want and get a hotkey remover addon

  8. #8
Moveanything! Allows you to resize move or hide any part of the default blizzard ui.

I'm at work so I can't login right now for specific things. But assuming you use no Addons that affect your UI I can tell you a few things:

Generally if you want to hide Frames you can use the command /fstack and hover over the desired Frame to get the "Framename" and than type /script "framename":Hide() including the framename without "" to hide it. To get the frame back just change "hide" with "show". Or you can use the Addon MoveAnything with gives you a GUI for it + you can move things instead of hiding it.

Most of it like Questlog can't be hidden without Addons/console commands I believe.

    1. MoveAnything or any other "Questlog" Addon should be able to hide
    2. MoveAnything or any Tooltip Addon
    3. You mean the "Boss Bonus Button" for an encounter specific Ability? Or the Draenor "Open World" Garrison Ability? The Button for the Garrison Ability can be hidden if you drag the Ability to your "normal" Action Buttons. You can as well use a ActionBar addon like Bartender to disable the Button. Not sure but /script ExtraActionButton1:Hide() could work.
    4. If I understand correctly its part of the Blizzard Combat Text, you can disable it in the Interface options under "Floating Combat Text"
    5. Isn't that the same as 3?
    6. I think you can disable it in the Options, not sure where. Or like I said with most ActionBar-Addons
    7. /script ShapeshiftBarFrame:Hide() should do the Trick for Stances and /script PetActionBarFrame:Hide() for Pet Bar.
    8. I think there should be an Option in the Interface Menus "hide Macro text".
    9. Not possible with Default UI I think.
    10. Which Button exactly?
    12. + 13. Right Click on the Tab to delete it. If it's deleted you can "lock" it that way the Social Tab should be invisible.

Generally if you want a "Clean" UI you will want to use many cosmetic Addons/like Unit Frames, ActionBars and so on, because they offer simple solutions to almost every "unclean" part of the standard UI

We're not deleting your threads. You're a new poster and you keep tripping the spam filter, so you keep creating duplicate threads that we keep having to merge.

I could understand some of the things you don´t want to see. But some of those things are so silly that ALT-Z as mentioned above is the correct answer to your problems.

I have downloaded moveanything and I have managed to solve point 1, 10, and 11.

The one that bothers me the most right now is the blizzard ticket message that takes up a huge amount of space in the top right corner. Any ideas how to get rid of it? I have uploaded a image of it.

If you are willing to use a broker display, then Broker Ticket Status @ Curse is an option.

    6. The macro name boxes that appears when pointing the mouse on a macro in the action bar.
Putting #showtooltip <spellname> should solve that.

    8. The macro names that appears on the macro icons in the action bar.
Press space instead of giving it a name

I mean the button that opens a list with the names of group members in a raid. I managed to solve it, its called raid manager in moveanything and can be disabled.

Honest question - why not use ElvUi or some ui addon like that?

    Madness will consume you!!!
