    Upgrade old pc for Wow:Legion.

    Greetings everyone!

Since i recently build a new pc for myself i want to give my old pc to my brother, but doing so i'd like to upgrade it first.

What i know for sure that needs to be replaced is the CPU cooler since its half broken and an extra fan for the back of the pc.

Now the rest i'm not sure how well its updated for legion, and since i'm not really a tech person i'd like some ideas as how to improve with a minimum budget if possible.

Most he'll play is WOW and hearthstone and maybe some upcoming games.
    Budget: 500€
Specs: http://imgur.com/6WlUB3V (thought having a picture taken from the program "speccy" would be easier!) psu = 550w

I think also since the SSD prices have dropped putting a 250gb one in wouldn't be too bad!
So if its possible could someone help building around what i currently have? what i definitely need is a new CPU cooler and a fan in the back. rest stil works perfect. i'm just not quite sure it will run WOW legion without any trouble.

    -Thanks in advance!

A 250GB or even 500GB SSD would be good.

Maybe up the graphics card. Not sure which one you have. Might not be worth it.

In terms of CPU, you're fucked. I have the same one myself, and that's a dead-end socket. The only thing you can do it upgrade to an i7, and it would be a pretty pointless upgrade.

The graphics card = 2048mb ati amd radeon hd 7800 series.

And since he wants to run legion at the recommended, is it better for him to just buy another pc then to upgrade mine? or is it fixable by adding another motherboard cpu etc.

It depends what you mean by playing really. Just questing and light usage or get into hc/mythich raiding? For the first he might be ok but not so much for intensive stuff, old parts are old. An ssd as it is, is waste of money imo. 350euro won't get you a good new i5 cpu-mobo-ram combo but you can get a decent gpu+psu run the game and then see if its acceptable. If not you move on to upgrading the rest when you can.

Yeah... It is not unlocked... But does that matter?

I would go for the upgrade I put above. Keep the GPU until the new cards are out. But what specific PSU do you have? If it is a bad one, you could lower the CPU to a 6400 and get a good quality PSU as well.

Yeah thats in Germany that is probably the cheapest in EU, doesn't mean its same on the rest of the countries. That and i was thinking a i5 6600(k), but if OP is indeed in Germany then he can go for it, keep in mind it would be advisable to get a new psu with that combo above.

He'll mainly play Questing wise and maybe some LFR/Normal raiding from time to time. But nothing like mythic etc.

He didn't really gave me a budget since he really never build a pc. or knows much about it. for his sake i'd say max 500€

Well with 550-600 you can make a new pc, i3 6100 with ram/mobo linked above, a gtx950 and a good little psu like the xfx pro 450w. Will run what you describe like a champ.

Hmm i'll tell him about it, see what he wants. if not, do you think the pc with current specs will be able to run legion? if its only for questing/dungeons etc?

Yeah, something like that should do it. If you only play WoW, your GPU is fine if you don't max out AA.
