What game always holds you through until something good comes out?

None. There is always something great to play. This year we have +160 new great games (released so far + those that will be released soon).
Add last 3 years of relases and You have at least 300 awesome titles to enjoy.

There's always WoW. In 8 years I have not had a moment of "there's nothing for me to do!!".

I have a large Steam library of untouched or barely played stuff that I'll turn to for a variety of reasons. I don't really have a go-to game. I'm a bit of an MMO whore but I can really only play one at a time and feel comfortable. Because of there being plenty of decent/ good quality MMOs out there (FFXIV, WoW, ESO, SW:ToR, TSW, GW2, Tera, to name a few I like enough to play semi-regularly) I'm rarely in a "nothing to play" conundrum.

FFXIV here there are always dailies or dungeon roulettes to do or low level classes to level.

The Binding of Isaac (before I got burnt out on the game), Team Fortress 2, Terraria, and a few others that I'm sure that I've forgotten are all games I like to go back to when nothing in my library speaks to me.

Last of Us: Factions (The multiplayer part of the game) and Xcom 1/2.

It use to be WoW but after 10 years I ended up pretty burnt out.

I play D3 during seasons and planning to restart Overwatch, then there's my Steam library with an insane amount of games i've yet to touch/finish.

Maybe a lot of them will be more or less a "story mode" run, but i have my hands full of stuff to do. For istance i've just started DS1, and installed both Darsksiders 2 and Castlevania lord of shadows since they're both games i started some time ago and never finished.

When I'm not feeling any games I always go back to L4D2 for some mindless fun. Mods galore and have fun for an hour or two, then I regain my interest in my other games and go back to those.

As far as "waiting" for games to come out well I'll probably just play WoW or my back catalog on steam.

well, it used to be aion, until their new patch & lack of quests made it so bloody boring to level up from 65-75.

That said, when I don't know what to play, but want to play something, I usually play Starcraft 2. Or piano/guitar/drums, depending on the mood!

No I don't have the lowest standards, actually +90% of these games are well known and have great/very good reviews. I just like many genres/types.
