    Ret pally aggro issues

I am haveing issues getting aggro on boss fights. My gear is Naxx 25/uld 10 and our main tank is a druid with off tank being a warrior(dunno if it makes a difference or not). I let the main tank gain aggro then i start my rotatation, the problem is i am scared to pop wings afraid i will pull aggro and get 1 or 2 shotted, still happens sometimes when i can't bubble in time. Since i am not tank i get raid heals but have to watch myself alot with the fear of just opening up(wich makes my dps lower). I am not gonna top the dps meter but want to stay alive and help down bosses. A good example was we were on KT and i was behind boss and my distance was ok, 2 shotted dead out of the blue.I use the standard rotation so i am not sure what to do. I'll link my toon and any sugestions or help is greatly appreciated

you're not the issue, your tank probably is.

or you are using Righteous Fury, which you shouldnt.

you can always use hand of salvation

do whatever you want, you won't pull, a warlock or mage will pull before you (get an addon called omen if you really want to see this) on kt, you got hit by either a void or you didn't get heals and SoB/SotM got you killed when a frost bolt hit you while you were at low health due to the recoil dmg.

Right on - make sure Righteous Fury isn't on, of course. HoS is always good. If these don't solve the problem, have a talk with the tank and find out why their TPS is so poor.

I always pull. Only when I switch from tankin to dpsing and I forget to take RF off.

Dude, if you're pulling aggro as ret, talk to your tanks.

How are you pulling aggro with a fishing pole?

But anyways, I agree with everyone else on the thread, unless you are using RF, you shouldn't be pulling aggro from a decent tank. Do you use Omen (or any other threat meter for that matter)? If you have the sound on, it lets out the most loud and obnoxious sound which tells you to back off dps and throw Hand of Salvation on yourself. Keep an eye on the threat meter so you know when to pop your wings.

if you do not have RF on you any mid skilled tank will stay above you on threat on most encounters including KT. Good tanks will have stable aggro gain within 2seconds of the fight and you can start unloading all you want. Seems to me like tank aggro is the problem, try testing it with different tank. Anyone else has issue with aggro? or is it just you?

This. You should never pull aggro off a tank who is worth anything.

thanks for the replys, I do not have RF on and I also use omen 3, DBM during raids. Usually when the tank is at 100% i am around 40% with a hunter or lock behind me. I am gonna see if it helps if i change form seal of martyr to seal of command. I keep HoS on #1

    Re: Ret pally aggro issues

Don't DPS from the start on. Give your tank about 6-7 seconds to gain threat. After that, you can go all out unless your tank is really bad. Use Hand of Salvation on yourself if you're getting high on threat.

Do not switch to Seal of Command. You'll go from great dps/high threat to signficantly less dps/very low threat. Seal of Command for anything(PvP included) sucks.

If threat is a huge issue for this tank make sure that your hunters and rogues are misdirecting to them constantly.

    Re: Ret pally aggro issues

maybe you have a rogue friend who gives you Tricks of the Trade? should not be a big issue really if you HoS yourself
some hunter MDing you for fun?

Uhh.. no.. any tank worth a damn will lock the threat down within the first 2 seconds. Personally when I am tanking I have people unload from the start.

Thats all fine and good when your tanking, but for his situation, if he doesn't have RF on and no one is MDing to him(on purpose or otherwise), and he isn't bailing on his guild and tanks, then waiting a couple seconds isn't going to hurt. In fact his numbers will be better because he wont be dead.

Have the OT warrior put Vigilance (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=50720) on you if you are the highest in threat.

He may out threat the Drood from it but as long as it is them being hit, and not you... your golden.

Have a binding or auto self cast on and give yourself a Hand of Salvation when its up.

If your still having problems, talk to your Raid Leader (even if it is the tank) and tell them your concern. Obviously its not you, its them.

    Re: Ret pally aggro issues

If it's happening on alot of fights, your tanks are bad.

If it's KT specifically, I remember he used to drop aggro when he mind-controlled people. It was supposedly fixed I think, but could still be bugged.

    Re: Ret pally aggro issues

40% isn't in any danger at all of pulling threat. If you top 90% at any point start worrying about it, otherwise just keep dpsing.

    Re: Ret pally aggro issues

The problem is the tank, unless it's something like Hodir or Vezax where people get inane damage boosts at times. I have tanked everything in the game since BC release, and never ever had a ret without RF pull aggro (except on trash in 5-mans, from time to time, while I still played warrior, but those mobs usually died a split second later :P), and I played with a few very good and geared ones.
