how do I get in to raiding?

    ok I have a question,

Ive been playing wow for awhile raided in vanilla and BC but with wrath I have not got in to the raiding scene much, 10 man ony here. 10/25 voas every once in a while, but now I have more free time and want to get back in to raiding, mostly toc25 and icc10, now the problem is the guild I'm in doesn't raid much. Also I don't have the achvs because never been there so I can't get in to pugs, I know the fights, just the whole no achvs is holding me back, how could I get back in to raiding?

armory link, for fun or if you wanna know what my gear is like(yeah I am working on replacing blue gems/lesser enchants just kinda poor atm also lol)

PuG ToC25. Alot. Make sure you have all the gear you can buy with triumph. Use proper Gems/Enchants. PuG Ony25. Get full 245+ gear, then app to a decent guild on your server.

Normally I would say: "Get into another guild asap." - but that don't work either since they demand that you've cleared everything in order to get in.. But I have one solution; get the addon UnderAchiever. I haven't used it, I played enough to get the achievements before these demands, but friends of mine have, and they get invited everywhere. Just get the proper gear (yeah, I'm referring to GearScore, I hate myself for doing it), and link the fake achievement. Works like a charm!

You know, I hate when people PuG ICC10/25 mans. At the beggining, it was "LFM ICC need 4.7k GS!". After one month it was "LFM ICC 5k GS req.". Now we have the +10% buff in ICC and what do you see? "LFM ICC 5.5k GS required, NO EXCUSES". I have 5217 gs and I know all fights, but the raid leader never let you in because you have lower GS then him. I would make my own PuG but then people go like "lol your GS is low, /leave"

Do daily random heroic every day to get tier pieces/items crafted, do lots of heroics to buy 245 gear for emblems of triumph, then do some latest ICC 5-mans heroics if there's some gear you want from them.

Then, fully decked out with gear that you obtained outside of raids, you can apply to a casual raiding guild that will not require you to have full ICC gear and experience. Guild (even casual ones) runs are generally better than pugs because you can be sure they will happen at a certain scheduled time, you know what to expect of fellow raiders, and raiding with someone weekly might create some good bond with your guild.
Rincewind: Ah! We may, in fact, have reached the root of the problem. However it's a silly problem and so I am suddenly going to stop talking to you.

Then you get those really special people who start groups, spam those numbers, then you get in and see that THEIR OWN gearscore doesn't meet their requirement, lol.

Re: how do I get in to raiding?

    A couple of suggestions.

    1) start looking in your realm forums on the WoW site to find out where current guilds are in progression. From there, find out if some of those lower end guilds are recruiting. Apply to guilds. A good app goes a long long way. Even if you aren't geared, know your class in and out. Know your rotations, prove you know your rotations for your class. Show that on your app that you know your shit. Be incredibly detailed. Guild are always looking for good players, and if you can show this, good guilds might actually take a shot at you. Maybe by bringing you on a toc25 run, or an icc10 run, maybe with their alts. If this happens though, be prepared, be ready, have flasks, have potions, etc... Show that you want to be their guild

    2) does your server do GDKP runs. gold for gear runs. You can bid and get anything you want as long as you have the gold. It's an easy way to get gear if you have the gold. It's also an easy way to get money and experience on bosses that you may not have seen. These are usually better than pugs because people understand that you have to be there in the end to get the gold, so people just don't ninja quit.

    3) get to know people in guilds. actually the GDKP runs are good ways to do that. Good guilds tend to have tons of alts that go to these. So get to know these people, show them that you know your stuff and that you can raid and are a good guy to raid with. You're not a drama queen, not an epeen douchebag, and can get along with people in a raiding environment.

Re: how do I get in to raiding?

@OP I highly recommend not lying or faking your way into a raiding guild; that's just a poor basis to begin a (hopefully) long term allegiance.

My advice would be to figure out:
[x] What you offer a raid guild
[x] What you need from a raid guild

If pleased with this info, post it as a LF Guild post. Or if you are still unsure, seek help on refining your points. I recommend using key words in your title to attract the recruiters you want, for example: knowledgeable, self-improving, LF (Casual / Social / Softcore / Progression) environment, etc.

You can seek advice on the official forums here: Guild Relations Forum There are many others who have had a similar issue to yours on this forum. Try using the search feature in this forum to find other threads discussing guild searching; those discussions may answer your questions.

When ready, you can post LF Guild posts here: official Guild Recruitment - Alliance, official Guild Recruitment - Horde, or here on one of MMO-Champion's many specialized recruitment forums. (I personally recommend against posting a LF Guild Post into your official realm forum, as they are not well received in my experience, although they can be useful in finding guild lists.)

The idea is to know what you offer and what you need, so that you and your guild both benefit from your pairing. It may take some effort to get into an ICC raid guild with no experience, but you will have to offset that with a well written LF Guild post, application, or a successful Ventrilo interview.

Re: how do I get in to raiding?

Get as much gear as you can, gear that is APPROPRIATE for your role. Use websites scattered around the web a google search away to help you learn to play the class to the best of your ability. Your gear won't be amazing, but as long as you've got as good as you can get from badges and perhaps ToC25, you should be alright. From there, head to the guild forum here on MMO champ, or better perhaps would be your realm forum on the official WoW site. WoWprogress.com is another great way to look at the standings of various guilds on your server and decide which ones are appropriate for you to apply to. Remember guilds that are into heroic ICC aren't going to be looking for anybody not covered in ICC gear already, but guilds that are still scratching through ICC will be more open to newer raiders.

Be honest about your raiding experience, but also make a pledge that you are doing whatever you can to be a totally competent raider. The first -serious- raiding guild I joined was not until after Ulduar, even though I'd been playing a good while before then. I hadn't really raided since BC, because time simply didn't allow for it in my schedule, and I was honest and up front about that information, but I still got in.

Guild usually check out shoulder enchants too. It kinda shows how much effort you're willing to put in your character.

Beside that, your gemming and enchanting is a bit off, that might be a nice start to improve aswell

Re: how do I get in to raiding?

Get 4.9k gs by heroics and ony/toc pugs. GS+Achi > DPS+Skill in world of pugs.

After 4.9k gs try join starting raidguild. If there is no normal raidguild that you can join (like mine problem in Saurfang EU [0 raidguild for me, around 7raid guild but all startabout 2-4hr later than my exraidguild and it's too late....]).

Sometimes there is icc10 pugs that allow lower gs ppl too like 4.8+.

First thing you want to do is to run PuGs organized by YOU.

If you build up a PuG to ICC10, talk calm and confident, noone'll come at you bitching your your low gear, and if they even do that, claim to be in <Insertrandomguildnamehere> and your main's super geared guy on the server.

If you have the money (well, considering the gems, guess not) you'd buy the 264 items from crafting, or just the 245 ones, wich are way cheaper.

If you want some class-specific help, feel free to ask in the class forums also -- they might be able to suggest the quickest path of gearing.

Re: how do I get in to raiding?

Honestly if achievements are the only thing holding you back from raids, just get an achievement faker. It's really not hurting anyone as long as you indeed do know the tactics.

Plus, depending on your server, all those people spamming "LFM toc25 /w achievement" will easily cave and invite you if you just tell them like "Hey don't have achievement but I know all the tactics and am geared for it" or something, especially if it's slow getting people at that particular time.

Re: how do I get in to raiding?

As someone who judges guild apps, here are some tips.

    1. Never lie. We will find out, and you will be declined.

    2. Always have best enchants and epic gems before you post your app.

    3. Make sure you have a World of Logs or Wow Meters Online report of your dps in a VoA or something like that. At very worst, take a screen shot of recount (the window you get by clicking on your line so we can see break down of spells etc).

    4. Make sure you have read the ElitistJerks thread, and have a well accepted talent spec, as well as the best gems etc for your spec.

    5. Make sure you put a lot of detail into questions about your rotation.

If you do all 5 of those well, you will get an invite even if you are a little undergeared.

You should just apply to any entry level guild that just raids normal modes.

Beforehand you should do a few things to make your character look better.
    - At the very least, get all the gear you need from heroics/triumph badges
    - Use all the best possible enchant, no pvp enchant shit
    - Use all the best possible gems, epics only, and fix your meta
    - Buy dual spec, not having it makes you look cheap
    - Get rid of the PvP gear, there's no reason to be using that

Re: how do I get in to raiding?

    Step 1: Hit 80 .

Step 2 : Do some random heroics (Remember the Frost ones) but try your best to do over 1k DPS (To avoid drama and argueing)

Step 3: Spend your badges on Gear from the vendors in Dalaran

Step 4: Keep repeating this till you have full 232/245 Make sure to have good enchants and epic gems on them.

Step 5: Try to find PUG's

    Step 6: Clear the PUG

    Step 7: Farm them

Step 8: Get enough gear for ICC 10 (Maybe look for a guild about now)

Step: If your guild has disbaneded by now you have the 1st quarter of ICC 10 achievment you need to join ICC 10 PUGs

11: Try to get into an ICC 25 PUG

    Step 12: Clear it

Step 13: You have nice gear now

If you can't get into groups due achies, lead one yourself, however be sure you know the fight, or your group will fail. www.tankspot.com will help you.
