10m and 25m Same Loot Now?

    I know I'm a bit late, yeah, Inb4flame.
But I just learned that for easier work and less competition, I can get the same gear. So the only point to 25 man now is for the achievements, the thrill of doing it, and World Firsts?
Not that I don't like those, just saying.
I just think this is kinda lame, I enjoy raiding the same instance twice on one character.
And jeeze, I just realized how hard it is to create a MMO-Champ thread while trying to avoid saying anything that might get you flamed.

I love the change. I prefer 10 mans to 25s; easier to setup, organize and run. And quicker too. Also, for those people with crappy PCs, the fewer bright flashies, the faster their dinosaurs run.

I predict 25s will start out rare, and then go extinct by the end of cata.

What does that mean for all the guilds that have set up the raids? Think they'll disband?

They drop the same gear, but 25-man drops three or four times the amount. So if you want less competition, yeah, you can run tens, but you're more likely to see the drops you want from 25s.

25's will still be the best way to gear up, and guilds that primarily run 25's now have little motivation to run 10's instead.

This just means that people who run 10 man raids aren't penalized, and people won't feel the need to run at least two lockouts per week.

Meh, still bugs me because the progression in my 10m is so much further than the progression in my 25m, but I still love the idea of both.

One of the better aspects of this system is that guilds who run with a core 25 with 10-15 backup can gear up at even higher paces, since they won't have to worry as much about their backups having weaker gear.

They are also getting the same difficulty.

Imagine if that applied today on sindragosa. Imagine 5 Iceblocks on 10 man.

    Good Luck!

10's are only easier now because everyone outgears them

Actually, given the info we got, you will have overall less competition in 25 mans. Sure, there will be more people, but also more drops, and it is more likely that the item you want will drop in a given run in 25 than in 10 man.

10 mans might have a higher chance that you will get it the first time it drops, but 25 will have a higher chance that it drops at all, and the raid as a whole will get kitted out faster, allowing them to tackle harder content that much quicker.

i personally will run 10 mans on my main prot war with a set group in order to gurantee (i suck at spelling) that i get the dps things i want for pvp. ill run 25 man pugs on alts in order to have better chances at gear since more will drop per toon.

Difficulty will be tuned to be roughly the same.

25 Man will reward individual players with more points (or badges, wahtever they end up going with in the end) per boss kill than 10 man will. So you can buy gear faster.

25 Man will drop more gear per player per boss. Meaning that if 20% of your raid got gear from a boss in 10 man (2 out of 20) atleast 25 percent will get gear in 25 man (5 out of 25 people). Since more pieces are dropping that means a higher chance of the gear your raid wants dropping. So if a boss has 10 items on it's drop list in ten man you'll only see a fifth of it's drop each week but in 25 man you'll see half.

At the end of they day you will get geared faster if you run 25 man. In theory the gap between 25 raiders and 10 raiders will be just as large by the end of any tier, when everyone raiding 25 has seen all the gear they want enough to get everything they want, and many ten man people are still waiting for that one thing to drop that never does.

Except we don't know how much gear is being dropped in 10 or 25 man in cataclysm. They could keep it the same as now or double it.

The only part I don't like about it is that they share the same lockout. Once you clear the raid the rest of the week will just seem a bit stale.

I am just confused as to why everyone who defends 10-Man raiders claims that these people are being "penalized." These players are not penalized in any way, shape, or form. They can easily do 25-Mans, it's just left to choice. If anything the 25-Man raiders are being penalized in this situation because there will be pretty much no reason to even touch 25-Mans. And besides, 25-Man raids already drop more loot than 10-Mans anyways.

I am quite unimpressed with this unnecessary change.

There will be more than one raid per tier, though.

like lets say your guild runs 25 mans and a raid has 10 bosses. on tuesday you kill 4 bosses. wed on 20 people show up so you split into 2 10 mans. group A kills bosses 5-7 and group B kills bosses 5-9. on thursday 25 show up again, you can reform teh 25 man but using the group who killed more bosses. hence 1 boss left.

    that is my understanding

Same difficulty would make them change other things in 10m's you couldn't do things like add 3 more iceblocks or 2 more Val'kyr on lk it just wouldn't work.
